Re: Conserved by NCS (link added)
<< <i>I like the fact it's been professionally conserved as now I don't need to worry that is will turn in the holder. I see no reason why a modern coin, professionally conserved can't garner the 70 grade. (On a side note: I don't think PCGS crosses 70 coins, so that's a moot point.) >> I believe this view is gaining… -
Re: Grade my new 1900 Barber Half - ****GRADE POSTED ****
The strike is excellent and I like the toning. I wonder how severe the hairlines are which run horizontally across Miss Liberty's face. You can barely see them in the lighting provided with the image. I don't see a lot of contact marks, which is unusual for an Unc. Barber Half. The odd markings on the obverse look a bit… -
Re: The original numismatic haiku contest. closed, see poll.
haiku rules, it's the only poetry I can write without rhyming out of habit. I really do like slabs, for the protection, for the opinion, and for the hopefully someday easier re-sale-ability, but it's also fun to rip on slabs: original gem here come the plastic police hurts to lock you up don't enter these (unless you like… -

Re: The coming election and metals. Thoughts?
Would you look at that. Gold and silver prices have been climbing steadily the last few weeks, regardless of spot. Almost like how I said it would months ago. Huh. Bitcoin is up $5,000 and usually gold shoots up a week or two after BTC does. Things are gonna get interesting. A whole bunch of stuff disappeared off my watch… -
Incorrect grade? what to do?
I recently purchased a 1999 silver eagle in MS-69 (NGC) to fill out a full set of MS-69 eagles. In looking at the coin you can see obvious nicks on the obverse in the lower part of the dress and small milk spots at 4 and 8 o'clock also on the obverse. Since these detractors are visible with no magnification I find it hard… -
Re: The Official Who Is Paying The Most For The 25th Anniversary coins thread
<< <i> << <i>About 250 eBay auctions running at this time and the average completed auction is close to $600 per set & rising. Any wild guess what a 70 PCGS graded set might possible go for? >> Highly unlikely for a complete PCGS 70 graded with the 'First Strike 25th Anniversary Set' label due to the bullion coin. My guess… -
Re: Peace Dollars

Oldcameoproofsguy is correct. Peace dollars don't tone up nearly as nice as their counterpart Morgan dollars. Part of the reason is due to how the Planchets were rinsed at the Mint. That's why many have those stains on them or what I call milk spots. Another reason is most were not stored for decades in the mint canvas… -
