Re: Goal Completed - A Peace Dollar set for your Enjoyment
BryceM, much like you, I really wanted to put a set of Peace $'s together, so, not having a 'huge'udget (huge is a relative term here, but to obtain a set like you have now, that's huge to me...just tried to keep mine as uniform as possible). Not wanting to 'pay the tuition', like you did (and sooo many others), and… -
Re: Saw Dan Carr's $5000, 2.5 oz. slug at the Denver show today.
Originally posted by: jmski52 I've been having mixed feelings about Dan's stuff lately. I do like a good percentage of his offerings and I've bought a fair number of them, in multiples. On the other hand, several of both his silver and gold issues have had problems with dark toning, hologram delamination and/or… -
Re: What advantage (if any) does having a 2011 Silver Eagle graded using PCGS Secure Plus?

<< <i>So, if that is the case, then paying a few bucks extra for Secure Plus would also get you some nice photos. If the photos are of high enough quality, the price difference between regular and Secure Plus would be less than paying one of the coin photo pros to take pics for you. >> << <i>It makes not sense to me unless… -
Re: What a rotten time to be an ASE collector!
I sold off my NGC PF 70 Set (1995 W and 1994 PF 69s) this year after holding for 5 years. Just can't take the risk anymore that these will not develop milk spots later on. Had about 13K invested in them. I enjoyed the set though and will watch the 2010 Proofs if the mint decides to sell them. Could be an interesting year… -
Re: 1000 POST GIVEAWAY!!! 2003 PCGS MS69 $5 Gold Eagle ** WINNER ANNOUNCED **

That's a great giveaway. I really like the designs of the ASE, First Spouse series, and the $50 Gold Buffalo coins. I have a few ASE which I had started collecting a few years ago but kind of shyed away from after milk spotting became an issue. I would have liked to add some gold to my collection but being on a college… -
Re: 1945 Jefferson DDR FS-30 - Close up picture for those that care - warning large photo
Thanks Sean for the information. You are right, the 1945P DDR I found will more than pay for the two sets. On top of finding the DDR, in the same transaction I bought a 1959 proof set for $25.00 that has a half with a DCAM obverse and a moderately CAM reverse. No hairlines on the coin, one very small milk spot on the… -

MS68 Ike Dollars and TPG Standards
Ike dollars are not exactly in my wheelhouse, especially their relevant market factors. That being said, my research seems to indicate the folks on the other side of the street tend to be “stricter” grading Ikes. I use that term loosely as one man’s stricter is another man’s “too tight,” “too loose,” or “accurate.” eBay… -
Re: Ferdinand VII with large chops
So what is the weight in grams to two decimal places, please. The portrait is struck up nicely and I only see light circulation wear so the weight should be very near to 27g. I can see a spot in the first two edge photos where it looks like three rectangles in a row. That is where the edging mill overlapped the design by…
