Re: Were US gold coins available in the 1960's?
<< <i>I belonged to the coin club in 1962 when I first started building collections in folders rather than an accumulation in a tin box. Double eagles were $47.50. That was way out of my reach just making $350 a month! >> Thanks for the bit of information. At $47.50 the premium over spot was about 36%. $350 would have… -
Re: proof sets but not original
Bruce, I wouldn't consider them rejects "knowing that they are probably rejects a dealer used to make these sets." Many people, especially in the late 1970s, liked to display their sets in Capital holders. People thought if they placed the coins in the holders and took them out of the mint packaging it would prevent toning… -
Re: MS 70 Pops for ASE's
86, 88, 95, 97 and 98 ASE's 3, 1 , 1, 3, 3 2008 FS MS 70 10,162 I think for a long time PCGS did not give out 70's due to the milk spotting problem so that is why there are so many years with no 70's. I would guess that people will have more graded and the pops will go up for the 70's, but that is only my guess. -
Re: ***Official Bald Eagle Order Thread!! Post your order#'s****Updated Pops Report **Great Pics Posted*
I love this set...(bought one) most beautiful design in a long time (gold and silver) (you can have the screamin' eagle chicks...clad) but I'm going to stock up on the gold and silver individuals (just hope the silver doesn't develop milk spots) Thinking this will be an Ebay bonaza year, especially if they do reduce their… -
Re: How's the turnaround time on your most recent submission?
PCGS received 3 coins with vouchers in June 1, I had them back in hand July 12. Got TrueView added to my coins, may have slowed down the process a bit. This was the first time I sent coins to PCGS, and it was a bit of a personal trial run to see how the grading process worked. Overall, I found the grading was exactly what… -

Re: You Heard It Here First Folks (silver Kennedy Set coins related)

Casman / ET AL, I remember seeing that place on the coin before sending it off to PCGS. It looked to me as if the finish was a little darker in that spot (like the opposite of a break in the frost of a cameo coin) and of course the TV photo enhanced it - I do not believe it is a milk spot. You know as bad as I would have… -
Re: Lets play a game. I selling and a dealers buying..

<< <i>Ouch... Don't you think these will rebound in years to come.. The reason I say this is I have heard that more than 20% or even more the Sp and the reverse ase in that set of 3 has developed those milk spots and think after the dust is wiped off of the sill, these coins could be in demand because of their rariety. Am… -
Re: What is your case of 2006-W 20th Anniversary Silver Eagles worth??

<< <i><<In summary, because of this great forum's advice and guidance, I was able to take $1500 and turn it into $7k in just a few months.>> Have you sold them yet??? Herb >> No I have not sold them, they are in my SDB...probably acquiring milk spots. SNMAN, you would bring up the FS thing. I cannot complain, as I believe… -
Re: Proof Submission Question
<< <i>I could clearly see where at some point in the journey a light film and a couple of milk spots had developed. >> You submitted it in a bad flip, or bad polybag. Use ONLY ET Kointainer SAFLIPS™ for submitting proofs, and do NOT use polybags. Also, even if you submit in the capsule, it still must be inserted in a flip…
