Re: Waverly thread

<< <i>I'm wondering of your 47 posts how many are devoted to Waverly? >> I'll admit I didn't read the original thread, but I'm wondering why it matters, Steve? Seems to me that the undisputed fact is that the seller in question runs a shady operation, and Ken has taken it upon himself to enlighten collectors who aren't… -
Re: Ebays like this...you want it, but its like rolling dice

Not all new sellers are scammers---everyone was a new 0 feedback seller at one time or another. At least it appears that the seller has a picture of the coin in hand. I feel less uncomfortable with that type of listing than many of the others I have seen. Mark has it right-i would bid on it if i wanted that coin at this… -
Re: ~~~ PSABoards Unofficially Official Birthday Club Thread ~~~

Thanks for the kind words and well wishes Mike. I really do appreciate it. And, great lookin' card there! I'm really sorry how this thing turned out and I wish that I would've been more proactive in getting assistance from folks from the beginning. Well, lesson learned for me that's for sure. Hopefully I'll be able to… -
Re: I thought ebay liked me
I've been in contact with the genius wannabe scammer. He's trying to sell me the Mantle outside of Ebay (big shock). Ive submitted this complaint to Ebay.... The scammer is using the EXACT same picture to sell his non-existant one. The freaking idiot even copied the auction title. Ive emailed him, saying I'm interested in… -
Re: Does anyone know how to NOT have Paypal as a payment option on Ebay??
Smart move, I would never accept paypal for a high priced coin. All it takes is for a scammer to claim he received the package, but it wass the wrong coin and then he does a chargeback with paypal and paypal dips into your account or your bank account and kindly refunds the buyers money. Paypal is great for transactions… -
Re: New ebay spoof mail? Invitation to become a Powerseller?
The fact that you were able to post an eBay logo here should demonstrate how scammers can use that same logo. They copy and paste just like you did. The logo is meaningless. Scammers create whole web pages that look just like eBay's, because they simply copy everything on a real eBay page and then substitute their own… -
Re: What if only ANA members could sell coins on ebay?
<< <i>then loads of scumbags will join the ANA and the eBay problem will become the ANA's problem. The ANA will be the one with the headache of weeding out thousands of scammers. >> And as they weed them out and expell them, they will then just send in another application under a false name, get a new ANA nuber for their… -
Re: Ebay scam. Maybe you've seen this?
buyer has the option to temporarily change ship to address in ebay during checkout. To permanently change the shipping address of an ebay account a scammer has to access the ebay account, normally with a phishing email that gives them the password. Some scammers have been successful at changing another's ebay shipping… -
Re: I'm confused on this Mantle auction, looking for opinions
A761506, I hadn't thought of the scenario you propose. If true, it seems slimier than the other possibilities. Using a real, unaltered Mantle to trick someone into giving you a lot of money, then sending them a fake, seems a worse sin than simply using a fake card from the start like most scammers do. It's dirty pool even… -
Re: Why does everybody talk trash about Ebay?
eBay has gotten a lot better for buyers. It was pretty much like the wild west some years ago. But they have shifted towards an Amazon model. I remember there would be about 800,000 coin auction listings. Today there are 137,000 auctions and 635,000 BIN. The scammers have shifted to the buying side and eBay treats sellers…
