It’s rather interesting how these came to be. The 1960 cent production began in January, but in a short amount of time, they stopped production. This was to complete contracts for foreign coins. When production resumed, the new production run used large date dies. Out of the 2billion+ coins, they estimate perhaps 2 million… -

1919-D Buffalos, 2-feathers or 2-much?

Lately I've seen lots of Buffalo nickels that have a fragment of the small feather remaining attributed by PCGS as the 2-feathers variety (even some dates where completely "clean" examples are available). I know the 1919-D is one of the dates on which fragmentary 3rd feathers are acceptable. How about these? -
