Re: Fun as a coin dealer....ugh.
I use safeguards like Paypal and Postal Money Orders but also have certain practices to help prevent fraud. First off, I never do bullion nor gold or silver coins except for a few silver error coins. Scammers are attracted to gold bullion. Second I have high-end photographs of every coin in my inventory. In my case, almost… -
Re: Counterfeit coins in "real" NGC, PCGS and ANACS holders on eBay
another reason to always check the TPG cert. page. Hopefully PCGS will follow NGC's lead and update cert pages for the counterfeit coins. It will take agressive action by the TPGs to shut down and prosecute the seller. Maximum publicity from ebay on prosecuted members would help discourage future scammers. Unfortunately… -
Re: How much of a hassle is raising your monthly selling limit on ebay?
<< <i> << <i>Shipping without tracking is a must if your selling on eBay no way about it. Just keep track of the expense and write it off. >> LindeDad. I'm sure you did not become a top rated seller by "shipping without tracking," since it's free when using paypal shipping. Did you mean to say: shipping with tracking is a… -
Re: how long has provident been selling on ebay?
Just started about a month ago. I initially saw some gold 1/10 AGE the day they started listing and they had a message saying seller was away for 2 weeks, 0 feedback etc. I thought it was a scammer trying to act like Provident so I didn't bite. At the time it was the cheapest 1/10ths on ebay. Turns out it really was them.… -
Re: Add nakatajp_4 to your Blocked Bidder List
Ok...sorry for my outburst, but I know I made a mistake and am hoping to get it resolved... I lost the PayPal case, but I have PayPal's fraud team checking into it before I file my appeal. He does this a lot and even goes to the extent of sending a message through eBay asking to send the cards with cheaper shipping so that… -
Re: I have made a HUGE mistake....LONG post
If you plan on making a living on Ebay, you better be prepared for the scammers. There are plenty of them out there. It is just a cost of doing business. NEVER sell anything you do not own or have in your possession. No matter how you tell the story, if i was a buyer of yours i would be more that ticked off. I have no… -
Re: Excited! Big Rickey Henderson fan..just landed a buyback rc auto!
when I got back into the hobby in 07 so much had changed from the 90's that I had to do some research before buying any patch or auto's of my player just to be sure stuff was authentic. It really takes the fun out of the hobby to have to question everything before you buy it but card dealers are some damn shady people… -
Re: Refunded wrong buyer....now what?? update: money returned! :)
Ya, hopefully he is honest. I once had something sent to me from a seller I had bought from. He asked me to send it back and I told him I would just forward it on to his buyer. I did and I was refunded the postage plus a couple of bucks. I didn't even ask for payment and I shouldn't of had too. Hopefully, he will take the… -
Re: How safe to buy/sell coins here?
Like others have said, just use common sense when buying things. If the price is too good to be true, it usually is. Someone new might not follow up on a deal, ect. Some people, like me, have a list of everyone we have dealt with, both selling and buying. If someone is on my list, it means I had a positive experience and… -
Re: So how do I ship a $3,000+ card and be Paypal protected???
I just sent a $4500 card by Express Mail and Fully Insured. The total came out to like $32. It comes with an on-line Signature Confirmation. In reality the only way you are 100% safe is to know your buyer. I sold my card to a well-know dealer in Texas through ebay. On the other hand, I bought a $3000 on ebay from a scammer…
