Re: Mantle rookie scam du jour
Yea, I had also seen this lot from this jerk. The usual scam with a 52 Mantle and some other cards or lots. Seems like the same 2, 3 or 4 scammers over and over again. Using new names, hijacked names, etc., etc. Ebay really needs to come up with some type of much better identity/address verification system. -
Re: What constitutes legal proof that i mailed a coin?
nobody know's whats in the package. There were scammers selling computers on ebay. When the buyers opened the packages they contained phone books. I suspect it was multiple complaints that gave the complainers validity. I always figured if I REALLY wanted to be protected I would pay a well know dealer I trusted to package… -
Re: Very suspicious Ebay activity: ATTENTION Ebay police!
<< <i>AVOID second chance offers from coin auctions; unless you personally know the seller; and know where your payment is going? >> That is probably the best advice. The communications this scammer is using are very authentic looking, chock full of ebay logos, square trade logos, buyer protection guarantees, etc.… -
Re: Ever buy from seller w/private feedback?
What's even more suspicious is when both the seller and the auction are private. Then you can't see that the other "bids" are shills from accounts with no feedback history. I can see why someone would want to keep his purchase prices private. But since scammers also use that to conceal the fact that they have never sold a… -
Re: Virus received from this board?
I have received several scam paypal emails that have contained viruses. Apparently the scammers are now including a worm I guess to try and infect the papal or ebay site when you forward it to spoof@paypal or ebay.com. Mcaffee picks it up right away when I hit send and will not allow it to send. It could be coming from one… -
Re: Best Consignment Options for BBCE Boxes?
So I have a follow up question. I'm also looking to sell an 89 fleer basketball bbce wrapped box. If I post on the for sale forum here, do people pay thru PayPal? Are there a lot of scammers out there? I've been on ebay for 20+ years with 10,000 pos. Feedback, but how would people know I'm legit on this forum? -
Re: Could this be a scam by an eBay buyer?
Feebay doesn’t care because they get their money either way. Sellers can’t leave negative feedback for buyers. You can start doing a search on badbuyerlist.org before you ship stuff out, but I’m not sure if sellers update too often anymore. Too many scammers on eBay for me to sell anything I won’t give away for free. -
Re: Fake St-Gaulden's come back.
Yes it is a good idea. So you push me to wrote a booklet for those coins? I have to finish also the book for Design Varieties of the quarters 1932-1998. I think I can do in PDF first for the classic gold coins and to put 50 or 60 of them as Buyers Guide. Nice idea RICK, many could be help and the fakers and scammers will… -
Re: How would you have reacted?
How would I react? Probably the same, gotten P.O'd and annoyed and decided the dealer was a jerk. As scams go, that doesn't sound like a very good one, though. Good scams are when the scamee doesn't know he is being fleeced by the scammer. This scam was like trying to kill an ant on the sidewalk with a twenty pound… -
Re: 1934 Goudeys - Legit?
Be careful - a scammer trick is to mix genuine commons with some key cards. Also - I just gotta wonder if there are more card lots offered from "estate sales" at any one time on ebay and elsewhere, than all the estate sales which have actually ever been in the history of the world...but at least it wasn't from "my…
