Let's hope you get it. The past few gold items that I won under spot, I never received. Since PM prices have been up, I have noticed more and more scammers on ebay. -

In general I concur with your advice. That said, some of the biggest scammers I've run into are also extremely smooth talkers, and I would, personally, speak with references with as much or more vigor if there were any concern on my part. -

I had actually e-mailed the winner this thread from one of my alt eBay ids - at least we did try to warn him. That being said, I hope the buyer unleashes the wrath of god on this scammer. -

It's nice to hear of pleasant experiences on the BST board. There are a lot of very honest sellers there, but you always have to keep an eye out for the scammers. By the way, I don't see this as off topic, if you bought a coin and are happy with it, it's on topic! -

I emailed this seller and asked if I could stop by and view the boxes, I live about 5 miles from him. His response, "We do not allow local pickup" I guess that says it all Scammer -

I would gladly pay Ebay a 2% commision if they were to start a fraud detection/prevention dept. and prosecute the scammers. I'm sure with all the listings on Ebay it would pay for itself and they would be providing a quality service to there clients. -
Re: Coins on approval
Once a dealer has confidence in a client they will often send coins on approval. Needless to say, in today's scammer-filled market, dealers need to be careful. In my experience coins sent on approval tend to be pricey. Then again, there are no bargains in coins. -
Re: From Ebay/Paypal
It probably isn't from them but some scammer trying to gain access to your account and credit card or checking information. In my opinion that stuff gets deleted as spam, just like most of the crap I get in email.
