Re: NFL has become a game of holding your breath......
Dimeman, first of all Dez bobbles the ball after high pointing it (BTW I love this made up term NFL analysts have invented for jumping and trying to catch the football). The steps he takes once he gains control of the pass are all while going to the ground and therefore do not count towards making a football move or… -
I'm back.....if anyone cares.
Hey everyone! It's been like 7 months since I've been on CU and CT. What have I missed??? LOL! Had a busy year. Bought a truck. Father-In-Law passed away (my wife and I had to take care of all of the estate stuff (including selling his coin collection - that was one of my jobs, naturally) since she's the oldest and the… -
Re: Identifying Genuine Missing Copper Layer Cents
That’s awesome — sounds like you really got into that lab! From a chemistry student’s perspective, what you did with the zinc and hydrochloric acid solution was a perfect demonstration of electrochemical reduction. The zinc ions in solution were reduced at the surface of the copper-coated cent, forming a thin metallic zinc… -

<< <i>How many of you wanting to see the PMs go down so you could buy more, bought the dip in the Fall of 2008???? >> Not sure I fall into the camp of wanting PMs to go down, but I did "buy the dip" in fall 2008. I picked up about five ounces of gold from a downtown Chicago coin dealer during that time. -
Re: Fake double-struck error coins on eBay
I see a lot of these. The wavy fields, indistinct design, and and often one-sided double-strikes are some of the main characteristics of these fakes. The host coin is always genuine, and the 2nd strike is the fake part (made from some sort of false die.) They're easy to detect once you know what to look for, but… -
Re: Three Day GTG Experiment - Coin Three Ends Late, 7-29, REVEALED 67CAM
That has always been the case with many or most or all Guess The Grades, which is often why I can't venture a reasonable guess. With this situation having good photos and starting with 3 existing opinions in agreement (the TPG; CAC and the photographer) and mostly because it is an experiment about GTGs from photos, I am… -
Re: Duluth, MN Coin Show this Saturday, Sept. 27th
the fall colors should be fantastic That's right! The fall colors are usually close to peak the last weekend in September. I would say they are at 50% right now. This is an angle I have tried to promote, get some folks coming up from the Twin Cities for the weekend, hitting the coin show on Saturday, and on Sunday a nice… -
A moose of a new book by QDB (slightly off topic because it deals with <gasp> paper money)
As I was continually hitting the refresh button on the ANR site, the following popped up. Hopefully I won't get bounced for posting this on the coin forum when it clearly deals with paper money. However, I think any new QDB book is an "event", and everyone should know about this new book. I have to put this one on my list,… -

Took a bit to dig up. ——- The Niagara Falls Hydroelectric Station “Starting over one hundred years ago, power companies have used water in the Niagara River to generate electricity. Strangely enough, they don't touch the water which goes over the falls. Instead, about a mile above the falls, much of the river is diverted…
