Sounds like it's a good time to sell high quality rare coins for top dollar and roll that into totally out of favor choice and gem generic gold. It could be, if used to apply a second strike (80% or more off-center) on a genuine 1968-S quarter. There is a similar torched nickel die out there that was utilized to apply false secondary off-center strikes on 1968-era nickels. One way to identify these is that the maker did not have a corresponding reverse die to use. -

Disregard. ABP...... It's been done before, back in 1969, when the water was curbed to analyze rock buildup and erosion at the falls' base (they found two bodies and millions of coins, but nothing to suggest changes at the site). Back in '69 there must've been a huge amount of silver. I wonder how much will be found this… -
