Re: APMEX is selling the 5oz ATB coins right now - $1,395 per 5 coin set - SOLD OUT - MTB SELLING ON eBA

What is the best way to crack open slabs and will these large ones pose any special problems. Thanks I don't know, but if I decide to do it - I plan to try bolt cutters and I will report on the progress I made. actually, I'd ask someone familiar with fingerprint removal. It may be too late, and I'd hate to see you crack it… -
Is PCGS is going to take a milk bath once again on the MS70 Silver Eagles?

Just when we thought it was safe to go outside, the Mint in their usual manner somehow can't mint silver Eagles even on burnished planks God save their souls. I have yet to see some a commemorative with milk spots although I did have one with V8 spots. So, now that PCGS has jumped back into the MS70 game on 2006/07-W… -
Re: A little bit of everything

So, back to wrestling for a minute, and back to Mick Foley. I just want to say it makes me sick what The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) did to Mick Foley at the 1999 WWE Royal Rumble, it was totally reckless and it could have cost Mick Foley his life. At the 1999 WWE Royal Rumble, Mankind (Mick Foley) and The Rock (Dwayne Johnson)… -
Re: PCGS Spot Review - Results are in...
Lee, I love you! Always nice, not so sure, LOL. ALways generous, absolutely. At times, you do share some features with Calvin, my favorite cartoon character of all time, but that's part of what makes you such an interesting person. Bill and I were just trying to be helpful and maybe not screw ourselves out of the jackpot… -
Re: Residue / toning on slabbed Mod Bullion Issue
I see milk spot right under her chin for one. Bottom could be the milk like substance spreaded out. I been told if the description fails to mention milk spots you can send the coin back as not as described. I have a few coins with milk spots it really takes away the beauty and hurts the value. If you keep it and then sell… -
Re: 1964 half dollar.

This is what our coins look like at 50X. This is not a milk spot. Milk spots do not have any foreign material associated with them. The micro-surface of a milk spot is smooth and gray. Your coin MAY have some milk spots but the image looks more like what I've posted here. This spot can be conserved if caught in time.… -
Re: I guess DLRC's rating system doesn't take in to account spots.
Coindexter, If you have been able to remove spots, what you had were not milk spots. Milk spots are opaque, embedded and cannot be removed without physically damaging the coin. The spots on the coin at DLRC are milk spots. Edit: I just realized you said you could not remove them. Yes, they sound like milk spots. Sometimes… -
Re: Hats Off To The Mint...! ( PHOTOS ADDED )

<< <i>Wait until they start to develop those BEAUTIFUL Milk Spots ,,,,,,,, and we all know alot of them will Just sayin' GrandAm P.S. I think this has alot to do with the .999 fine alloy as I have many .900 fine Modern Commemoratives and NONE of them develop Milk Spots. I use to have (2) raw sets of Silver Eagles that I… -
Re: American Silver Eagles
<< <i> << <i>I've had a set of MS69 SAEs. I didn't have the milk spot issue but I did sell them largely because of it. I decided to keep our SAE collection largely raw (save for some toned ones). If you are serious about going this route, do some forum searching for "milk spots" and read about what people are seeing.… -
Re: ASE Spot Review
<< <i>This is one of the threads: Spot Review >> Water Spots and Milk Spots on SAE are two completely different critters (as pointed out by the OP of the linked thread). On UNC SAE's, milk spots can be dimished but not eliminated. On Proof ASE, "some" milk spots can be significantly diminished but not eliminated. .. The…
