Re: Will we see a big dip by summer?
<< <i>QE3 is already in progress around the world, particularly with respect to Japan. While an "officially" named QE3 might not appear until June or later, it's already here. Doesn't anyone still consider $100 BILL per month in TBonds a form of continuing QE? It's the same general size as the monthly QE2 payments. There… -
Re: TrueView versus GreatPhoto
Are we griping because of the value added (or subtracted)? Even Phil is going to get six different ways from Sunday before he settles on an image to pass onto the web guy. Imaging color on coins borders fanciful and false advertisement as it is... Spent 20 years moonlighting as a freelance and wedding photographer and I… -
Re: Incuse Quarter and Half Eagles
As Bill pointed out, the back of the Indian's neck is a good place to check. There is a reason for this---it's the deepest part of the coin design. When the counterfeiter casts his false die using a genuine coin this is where any tiny air bubble would be trapped. These bubbles would show up on coins struck from this false… -
Re: A guy walks into a local coin store and says...
<< <i> << <i>Any entity can offer whatever price they feel suits the market they make whether as a seller or buyer. That is why it is called a free market. Anyone(sellers/buyers) and everyone(sellers/buyers) is/are FREE to make choices. The free market doesn't statically exist for the convenience of anyone. It exists… -
Re: What Do You Look For in a Coin Website?
It maybe worth the time to poll and ask what existing sites serves the population best now. And I would believe you need to be clear ... are you looking at commercial web sites for sellers an buyers or educational one like one might expect from the ANA , or TPG sites, or specialty collector sites that are out there now ...… -
Re: Double denomination eleven cents
A hopper is a giant bin--it doesn't need to be denomination specific. All you need is a dime to somehow get stuck or otherwise not leave the hopper when it's full of completed dimes, and then the hopper gets used to transport cent blanks where, when emptied, the dime then falls out. Voila, 11 cents. -
When will us coins be considered ancients

US coins will not be considered "ancient" in the numismatic sense for several millennia. The term ancient coins typically refers to coins minted before approximately 500 CE (Common Era) or the fall of the Western Roman Empire. This classification includes coins from civilizations like Greece, Rome, and Persia, with… -

Re: 2009 MLB Draft
Mock Draft from Baseball Prospectus: This one could be a mess folks, and it's all about bonus demands at this point. Right now, you have as many as four high school pitchers—Jacob Turner, Tyler Matzek, Matt Purke, and Shelby Miller—looking for big, big money, with the first three all telling teams they're looking for Rick… -
Re: FS; FBL; RB; Red; FB; etc., etc., etc.
I agree in part. IMO bands, bell lines, and steps are more of a concocted marketing thing. Yes I know specialists may disagree, but to stake big bucks on trivial reverse design features on common coins illustrates the silly side of our hobby. A full head is another matter altogether as it is an important deign feature on…
