Re: The Michael F. Hayes Barber Megathread
You've all heard of a rescue dog, how about a rescue coin? I've purchased a few Barber Halves off eBay from bad photos; when they arrived I discovered they were coated with lacquer. With a little experimentation I found that acetone successfully removes the lacquer without damaging the coin. A while back I spotted an… -
Re: Huge Vintage find...need help...UPDATE!!!!
If they guy knows enough to price Bary Bonds RC's high right now then he knows enough to find out if these are fakes. I am sure if they were real he would not flip a Joe Jackson for $175. If you really think he has something legit get his contact info from him and then find the people in charge of the flea market to… -
Re: There needs to be a serious show about coin collecting on TV...
The dweed channel. Remember that ham radio operators have much cooler flea markets. Youtube sounds like a good idea. I can watch porn on Youtube. Uh, I mean one can watch porn on Youtube. Would numismatic porn include having masked coin doctors revealing or at least demonstrating their techniques? An Iron Doctor contest?… -
Re: Ever rip a coin on eBay and then feel somewhat bad about it

I have in the past, but I did place my highest bid on the item and nobody bid against me or the item. It was a rip when you look at what previous sales on the items that I won had gone for, but I'm sure that the seller understood the possibilities of what would happen. Do I feel bad? Considering I like this particular… -

Re: Coin Shops, Dealers Locations in the UPPER MIDWEST
WOW. That's a tuff problem. At least around the Chicago area. There are some great coin shops in the downtown area. There are coin shows almost every week. Hobby shops that deal with coins everywhere and there is a flea market on Manhien Road that has at least 4 ot 5 dealers pending a Saturday or Sunday. UNFORTUNATELY, no… -
Re: is this a scam?

Thats why i think EBAY is a toilet, a few months back just for $hits and giggles i put 20 Mexican 50 pesos with pics for $500 a piece and had a few bidders, and one bidder was nice and emailed me and told me someone emailed him and told him not to buy coins from new users with 0 feedback, so i emailed EBAY and asked them… -

wowser, how many watchers have u had on an item? and either 1 or none have bid on your item under 10 bucks (cheap skates). Off Topic Post - 1661 Tax Day Witchhunt of Fofar Scotland - found while researching Dundee Token
I came upon this piece while researching the commerce of Dundee, Scotland and it's environs out of curiosity over a 1795 Molison Halfpenny Token from Dundee. As it is Tax Day it thought the presumed power to curse a taxman dead due to lack of coin would be of some odd amusement to those either bereft of coin or at least of… -

Long boring story, Don't read unless you're bored lol. Decided to hit the flea market today just for Shiggles. It was about 55 and 20 MPH wind gusts but Sunny. Ran into three Sellers with Numismatic and bullion items. I've dealt with the First seller before. Nice older gentleman probably in his late 60's. I haven't…
