Does PCGS or someone have a database of stolen coins

bestdaybestday Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭✭
A Lady whose home was burglarized 3 months, saw her items in a local pawn shop.. including items were Gold rings and PCGS coins. Police were called .. so the Pawn shop will be out the money. Is there any data reporting alerts to identify stolen coins ?

  • PCGS does have the ability to mark cert numbers as "reported stolen". Those certs will then not show up on cert verification and are not eligible for the Set Registry.

If the coins are ever recovered, the original requestor can remove the stolen status.

I would always recommend that buyers check the PCGS Cert Verification page, especially before those "too good to be true" deals.

I'm quite certain that Doug Davis maintains a reporting database at Numismatic Crime Information Center.
