Are there varieties of the 1973 Canada RCMP dollar?

In the collection I bought recently, the collector swore that one of the 1973 RCMP dollars he has was a special variety--something about beads. I searched google, but couldnt find anything conclusive. Anyone know about this?

1965 has the beads, never heard of the '73 having different bead sizes.

They were issued as Specimen strikes in 2 different cases: black clamshell + blue clamshell. The blue case has a $15 premium. No varietes for the coin.

  • The seller was getting the dollar confused with the quarter. The quarter comes in normal bust with 120 beads and large bust with 132 beads.
