common common common, but how can you not have at least one salvage coin someplace? ANACS attributed F15

plus, it's an 8r, and there's NEVER anything wrong with that. just playing with the camera tonight.

It is a nicer piece than most of the coins that came from that particular wreck. Many of the coins have a lot of pitting.

yep, a ton have come from that wreck. it was nice to see it slabbed and attributed, and pretty much recognizable! I assume in 5-6 years this will be going with one of my kids to show and tell (Godwilling)

I've always liked those salvaged coins, I just picked one up recently, too. Yours is definitely one of the nicer ones I've seen, the majority of others seem to have a lot of corrosion.

I didn't know ANACS assigned grades to these.

I picked up one of these last year. The dealer had a number of them so I got to cherry pick somewhat. There were some pretty ugly ones. I think I did pretty well snagging this one for $100. Uncertified, but much better details than most I have seen.

I just weighed it for the first time, came it at an even 24 grams. Is it normal for shipwreck coins to lose so much weight? Wiki says the specs are 27.468 grams.

Shipwreck coins generally weigh in 10-30% lighter after salt-water has had significant effect on them.
