Post Office Issue.........
I knew the PO would be closed today but, ours has a lobby that you can drop larger packages into that was open. So I went and put a medium flat rate box into the big package drop. When I opened it back up the package was still there, so I closed it back up to see if it would drop again. However, this time it wouldn't open. I tried putting a lot of weight behind it to see if it would open and the thing wouldn't budge. I don't think the package was jamming it up, because a steel door on a cardboard package should have a little bit of give. Should I call the PO in the morning to make sure a postal employee retrieved the package ? I am worried someone may come along and actually be able to get the door open and remove it. The package was insured, but if the PO hasn't scanned it yet, that is probably of little use. Any suggestions ?

<< <i>I would either call them or physically be there FIRST THING in the morning, because you are correct in saying that if the package has not been scanned yet, insurance is of no use whatsoever. >>
and... you better hope no one tries harder to force the bin open. Your package is at serious risk right now.

I wonder if the PO would mind if I had an open fire in the lobby.
<< <i>And to top it all off, I think I violated the 13oz rule. >>
The 13 ounce rule is that you can't put anything with stamps in a mailbox that is more than 13 ounces. You can put things with an electronic label in a box.

Sweet, at least I'm good there.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
<< <i>When they are full they lock automatically. That is likely what has happened. >>
I think this is what happened, I just returned and it is still shut. I looked through a little slot at the bottom and could see where all the packages were stacked up to the bottom of the door. When I try to open the door it seems locked instead of something blocking it, hopefully this is the case.

Yeah I agree. Also, if you're laying there long enough, somebody may even come by and hand you some money.
