2 Taler Emperor Ferdinand - Grading assistance

I need the forum's grading experts to assess what this should grade at. Scarce 2 Taler piece.

Please apply a conservative approach. I tried to capture the detail and coloring of this piece. Very thick metal a bit of edge clip at 6 O'clock common for these.

Andres this is a coin from 1564... if this were anything close to 67 I would retire image

This is currency of the time double the weight of a standard taler.

Some wear in the laurel leaves and high points (sword pommel and elbow point), but almost all the detail left in the beard and hair on the obverse, and very little wear apparant on the eagle breast. I'll guess AU 55, maybe 58 if the luster is really nice.

I think I'm seeing a touch of wear on the collar. AU58 IMO.

I see some hairlining in the field on the obverse. I would venture to guess AU, but definitely an xf. It seems to be a really nice piece! -Dan

58-63 depending on how much is actual wear versus lighting anomalies.

Great picture - nice pc - has signs of an old rub but I'd venture AU58 and I can easily see it in a MS61 holder too. jmho

So... the sad part was that NGC graded this AU-Details Tooled.

I called in and argued to speak to grader which they did not allow. I looked under a loop closely myself and see no evidence whatsoever of tooling.

I have decided to keep the piece given the scarcity and appeal it has in my opinion. Question is should I resubmit arguing my case.

They should be able to tell you which details they believe to be tooled...

There is one coming up on CNG's auction - CNG

I may bring it over to their NYC table and get their Numismatist's opinion
