Scammer for your eBay BBL

They never run out of scams. Block user "kender05"

Sold a 1971 Topps Roberto Clemente in vgex condition for $30 on October 10 (Listing). Hadn't received payment, so I filed an unpaid item case. Today I received the following email:

Dear gwhippos,

Hello and how are you today? My son was killed in an auto accident Sunday. I need all of my funds for his funeral. Can you PLEASE cancel this sale. Ebay will let you relist for free. THANKS R

I spent 15 minutes searching on Google to find a story about someone with the last name Kender (buyer's name is Richard Kender) who was killed in an auto accident in Carson, California, but, surprise surprise, there were no such stories.

Then I researched him on eBay. His eBay "Me" page says the following:

Hello, and welcome to 5RK's Discount Emporium Plus This is a family owned business consisting of 5 kids by the names of REBECCA, RANDALL, ROBIN, RENEA, and RYAN.

We here at 5RK's started selling things on street corners in an effort to keep food on the table, due to our parents being disabled by a uninsured drunk driver.

Need I say anymore? I guess I have to put in to cancel the transaction because it isn't worth getting a negative over this idiot.

    Done!

I have an annoying ebay thing that's not even worth it's own thread... I recently sold a raw 1985 Topps Clemens for about $5 shipped. While I was shipping other items that I sold, I accidentally shipped the Clemens card before the buyer paid for it. Of course this guy isn't honest enough to pay for the freaking card now that he has it. I sent him a kind message explaining that I shipped it before he paid by mistake, but of course he's ignoring me now. It's not even worth it to pursue him over five bucks, but it's just annoying that someone just ignores you like that. SMH...

I meant to comment on what he sells, but I forgot. Enough said.

  • I was talking to a fellow Ebay and Sportlots seller eariler today and we have both seen an increase in the number of potential scammers on both sites. Before I would only get delivery confirmation on items over $25 on Ebay and $10 on Sportlots as the amount of incidents for these items were minimal, but recently I have had a number of buyers claim they never received their item, even though I sent them. Funny thing is that it has only happened on the items that I did not provide DC. I guess it is my fault for not getting DC. So now I bought a postal scale so I get the free/ discounted DC and everything gets DC. I guess with the economy being in the crapper and unemployment being high the scammers are coming out of the woodwork. Sellers need to CYA!!

I would have written back with this:

"I'm very sorry to hear about your son. My condolences. Was it Randall or Ryan? I must be bad luck or something, because six of the winning bidders of my cards have lost a member of their family (one was a dog) in the past two months. I will of course cancel this transaction just as soon as you send me a copy of the obituary."

I dusted off my stamp collection recently and started filling some holes with some better stamps or one's I've never had before. I've now bought about 15 items so far on Ebay ranging from $2 to $30 and not 1 of them came with DC LOL

Guess the stamp nerds are an honest bunch

I wanted to, but I decided this one wasn't bad enough to risk a negative.

If my child was killed I doubt I'd be on eBay trying to cancel a sale.

He's had newly listed stuff all this week, must have gotten over his grief rather quickly.
