Any recommendations on getting a loupe??

I purchased a book that Reed from BBCE recommended getting on detecting Fleer fakes, and it is GREAT!! But some of the things to look for require a loupe - something I have never done with grading cards. Any recommendations on where to get one and what magnification to get??

Great! I like the carson one because the sides are clear and let in enough light to properly "grade" them.

I swear by the Konus Power 10 - 10x magnifier. Really cool and great for my advancing age despite the lasix I had done several years ago. LOL

Edited to add: My bad, I thought the question was "Any recommendations on getting a toupe??". I apologize.
I would love to know what EagleEyeKid uses, because his poppage seems to me a majority of 10s!
<< <i>I have a 4x mag lamp, but I really don't like it. It's hard for me to focus on the card when I use that thing. That Carson loupe looks pretty nice, and a good price. I like how it's clear and lets light in.

and I found it easy where I didn't have to constantly move it around to compare
it to other flaws (if I thought it was a flaw).
I have tried 10X loupes and i don't think it's necessary because you will start to
see things and imagine things.
I ended up giving my Carson to Craig (gumbyfan) cos I got used to what I was looking
for and he said he luved it.
Big fat loupe that fits over entire card:

Happy to hear you enjoyed the book. You can never accumulate enough information to stay an educated collector/dealer.
No matter what magnification is on your loupe, others are right, you may start seeing things or imagining things. I do find it detrimental to become too picky, but it's your hard-earned money being spent on cards, so if you're a strong buyer for quality, picky is good. The loupe will at worst be valuable to spotting counterfeit cards.

when it was manufactured, the intention was to use it for viewing slides or negatives, i guess.
now it's one of 2 major components i carry when viewing card collections, the other being a floppy 7-inch
ruler.

LOL, I've been VERY happy with the Carson. yeah, the others are right about seeing too much sometimes, but my error rate on subs has gone way down.
