Its unusual to hear somebody say this, but I dont think the price has moved much in 12 years if she paid $300 back then. I would have suggested $300 without seeing your comment.

For comparison, I just picked up this one on ebay last week for roughyl $300 with shipping and it is a 1543 Brandenburg-Franconia taler in the same exact grade.

I also don't think the prices for circulated coins has moved much except for the real rarities.

But isn't $300 Canucki dollars worth about $10,000 in US money now? image

The exchange rate wasn't too bad; it is close to even when you factor in paypal's exchange rate factor.

I am still struck by the oddity that a circulated taler that is almost 450 years old has close to no appreciation in 12 years (assuming the original post was correct). I checked Krause to make sure and price is in the ballpark. Krause has it slightly higher, but I recall NEN selling a similar piece in the $325 range a while back so I think Krause is high. I was thrilled to pick up a problem free piece at that price.........

Impulse 1593 German Taler pickup I had myself at very affordable price. Imagine the equivalent US Coins?
