I'm back among the employed ranks - woohoo!
I've been unemployed since June 24th (my time time being unemployed since age 13), and have been interviewing for jobs across the country (IA, IL, TX, FL and SC). I've received 3 offers within the past week and have decided to accept the job in Charleston, SC. My wife and I have vacationed in Charleston 3 times over the past 8 years and absolutely love the climate and rich history. It really is a dream come true. I was ready to accept an offer from the Dallas based company last Wendesday, when the opportunity from the Charleston based company arose. At first, I declined to interview (because I was so close w/ the other job) but then decided to discuss the opportunity over the phone. After that call, I was very intrigued and agreed to fly into Charleston to meet them in person - and they even offered to pay for my wife to accompany me - which I thought was a class act.
The interview went amazingly well and I received an offer Thursday night which I will accept on Monday if not sooner. I currently live in Wichita, so we will start packing on Monday and calling moving companies. The other bit of good news is that we've been negotiating an offer from a potential buyer for our home and will hopefully sign a contract this morning after their "final" walk-thru. My house has been on the market for 7 weeks - and we're thankful to (nearly) have a contract without taking too bad of a beating.
The last several months (even before losing my job) have been very tough for my family and we are very thankful for all of the kind words and encouragement that have been given by dozens and dozens of board members. We have a special group of people on these boards - thanks to all.
Rgs,
Greg M.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

My wife and I vacationed there last year and it is a great place! Good luck.

I've also been interviewing recently. I've been gainfully employed (if you can consider working in state government "employment", I guess...) , but I'm looking for better opportunities. (You know, like a job with an actual career path, and working with people that have ambition.)
Things recently started popping for me since the middle of July. There's been a lot of turmoil at my work, and the people that have left all left on their own accord, and for better opportunities.
Hopefully, your anecdote and mine are indications that things *might* be looking up for everyone.
Good luck on the new gig!
Only an idiot would have a message board signature.
Great deal. I was pulling for Dallas but great to hear the other offer was even better.
Be sure to pack your cards carefully
