Legit Marcus Allen Auto and Inscription?

I just purchased a Raiders mini helmet signed by Marcus Allen, with the inscription "S.B. 18 MVP" I got the helmet from Gridiron Authentics, which I believe to be a good company. However, when browsing around other Allen signatures, the SB reference always seems to be signed "SB XVIII MVP". Does anyone have experience with Allen signed items? Should I consider getting the helmet authenticated by another party?

Thanks for your help!

A photo would help us give you a better opinion.

I have seen a lot of good Gridiron Authentics items and have seen nothing to raise a flag. Although, a KC mini sounds cooler....image

Seems to match pretty well with my latest example of his auto...

Thanks again for taking the time to look and provide feedback. I really appreciate it!
  • I would be very leary of this company. I have heard others say they show good autos in their auctions and then send different ones that are no good. I have also heard people who have sent many things in to PSA/DNA that came back no good. I would stay far away from them.

IMO, they are some of the biggest crooks on ebay.

Thanks for the information. In all honesty, this is the first negative feedback I've heard on Gridiron Authentics. I'm going to get another certification on the helmet, and will post the results.
  • If you do a google search on them, you will see some bad things. Some people defending them as good also. I got suspicious of them when I noticed they have a never ending supply of all the big names. I mean never ending. Then you look at the prices they are getting. Namath for $60, saw one that went for $51. Many in the $60 range. Montana cheap, Aikman cheap, everybody cheap. IMO nobody could stay in business getting these kinds of prices. You can't get Namath to sign for $50, no matter how many items you want him to sign.

Someone on another message board said they had a picture of an athlete signing that was from a signing this other person did. When he called him out on it, they said they got the photo from the player's agent. They then took down all of those listings and never listed them again.

If you look at their feedback and just look at ALL the big names and the sheer number of each player, I am just not buying it. Especially the prices they are getting. For me personally, after getting $60 for a few Montana mini's, I would start listing them at fixed price only.

Your Marcus Allen may be legit, I don't know. I believe they do sell some good ones but I also believe they sell A LOT of bad.
