1869 Halfpenny on ebay

It will be interesting to see how this one turns out. This coin has recently become as valuable as the 1871 halfpenny, according to Spink. It is estimated to be about twice the rarity of its big sister penny.

Wow, that is a big price so far for an ebay coin not graded. Can't quite recall the Cheshire coin (hello Rob!) but I recall an MS65RB going for about 800 or so USD. This one might be a "GEF" but an unfortunate mark on Vick's cheek and soft struck Britannia head as well as some surface lustre loss in rev. field/devices...

Well, as has been said get out the popcorn!

If it were as nice as a certain 1869 farthing, I'd outbid everyone and use it as my "re-intro" bronze....................but, it's really circ., IMHO.

I have to agree that it is probably not a true UNC.

The price is now at £920. Unreal. I wonder how this one would do?

Coin looks high end AU and played with to me. Perhaps just the image though.

A volatile market, to be sure but methinks 500 pounds would be about maxing out for that coin and IMO they are going way too high...

I agree with the high end AU, but played with, how? I'm really asking what you saw and raised some of your many red flags. image

Edited to add: the foggy part at around 4 o'clock on the right side of the obverse fields?

If hypothetically this was going to happen, IMHO you should be looking as far away as possible from this one,

but you know this already, so why am I posting unnecessary observations tonight? image

Finished at £1,088, close to Spink catalogue value for BUFL. The winner is paying way too much, methinks.

That image is too large, so you must be trying to trick everyone. I'd only pay about $200 for it......................and, FREE SHIPPING! image
