1951 Topps Red Back - Front separated from back?

I sent a Monte Irvin 1951 Topps Red Back RC TTM to be signed. Well, I got it back, and the back has completely separated from the front, as in it has split completely in half. Is this common with these cards?

Thanks.

Corey

    Corey,
I have sets of both the red and blue backs as well as several extras and have never seen a separated one.

Maybe Mr. Irvin didn't want you to profit on his signature, so he ruined the card.

I have the 51 sets as well and do not think the cards involve the fusing two pieces of cardboard in production. Does it look like it was separated with a cutting device ?

I have seen a few separated over the years but they were done purposely. Maybe your card was glued back together at some point and the heat during transit separated it again.

Are you sure it is the same card? Maybe Mr. Irvin switched them on you.
