Yeah I am definetely going!!!! I have been to the last two in Cleveland and Baltimore and they were a blast. I have started saving money earlier this year so I can be more prepared. I am hoping to find some more George C Millers for my set as I was able to pickup 4 of the 5 that I saw in Baltimore last year. The National is a sports collectors dream. What are you guys gonna be on the lookout for?
The reason I ask is that I plan on getting some autographs, and I have never ever been to a national. Is there any advice you can give to a newbie?? Do you have to wait hours to get something signed?? I have some 16X20 flats although the viewing image is only 11X14 as I plan on getting them framed and matted. Would that be considered 11X14? Sorry for all the noob questions....
Tips for those attending for the first time: Go to Sports Collectors Daily site and type in "tips for attending the National."
Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.
I'll be there Wednesday night and Thursday for sure with my girlfriend so I can get double the VIP swag.
Wish they would bring in some decent signers for Wednesday night and the banquett. I like Fergie and all but I have more autos of him than I will ever need. How about a BJ Armstrong or 85 Bear or something.
All set to go all I need is my show tickets.Have my Rail Tickets and Hotel Reservation at the Hilton Rosemont/OHare.Will be there Wed afternoon till Friday Morning.Looking forward to meeting some of you folks. Will be wearing something with the number 59 on it.
There are several Hotels right by the Rosemont.Look at National link.

I have been to 4 with the best one being in St Louis and it was very organized as far as autographs are concerned and only had to wait minutes to get my Stan the Man Autographed Ball.I did not bother getting Autos at other shows. You will need more than one day if you really want to carefully check around lots of stuff you can easily miss otherwise. My wife is coming along but she will be outside most of the time smoking.Glad I do not smoke anymore 35 years no smokes.
Morning, I plan on being there with my 14 year old boy, have to figure out how it's going to work financially. The Wife wants to do the Family Orlando thing this summer, that's going to be 6-10K once you add everything in. So plan on Chicago, but things can change.

Actually Collect Non Sport, but am just so full of myself I post all over the place !!!!!!!
I'm flying up for my first one. Only collect hockey so it could be a bust. Looking for 1979 Topps hockey uncut sheets. I wonder how I'd transprt one if I was able to find one? Mabe have them ship it to my home.
Working my way to #1 1979 Topps Hockey I know it's going to be tough!

You should be able to find some quality Hockey there.A item like that is usually carefully rolled into a cardboard cylinder for packaging.
FYI, Three Floyds is in Munster Indiana not IL, although it is just across the state line.
And depending on traffic, the trip between the brewhouse and Rosemont could take about 60 to 75 minutes.
I plan on going to the National on W, TH, F, and SA.....I hope to be able to find some cards for my White Sox type set, and some White Sox T206's with harder backs.
Got My VIP tickets but had to sell one to a forum member because my wife will be having major surgery June 20th and will not be able to attend. This will be my 5th.This is going to be my retirement gift from my wife as she wanted me to go to a Tiger Fantasy camp(ARE YOU KIDDING ME?)I havent swung a bat ,thrown a ball or played since 1994 at age 45.I will be wearing a ticket printed Fiveniner on it.I am looking forward to meeting some of you folks.I will be staying at the Rosemint/Hilton /OHare.
I will definitely be there as I live in Chicago. I'm trying to justify purchasing the VIP package. Can you guys help me?
What kind of resale value can I expect from the VIP gift bag? The free VIP auto's don't seem to enticing. Even if I made it out there all five days, single tickets would run $90. Am I missing any hidden value?

The VIP Package does offer a few perks(read details) on the National Sports Collectors Website. If you are concerned about resale value do not bother IMO.I had VIP in St Louis and the bag still contains everything that I recieved.Price was much lower then.I had have preference in getting Stan The Mans Autograph with only a very breif wait in line.
Have not missed a National since 1983; don;'t want to start a new trend now

Plano, Tx. Card Show #5, Sunday March 6, 2016 at Adat Chaverim (Northeast Corner Independence and Spring Creek) in Plano Tx 9Am to 4 PM. See you there!
Wish my work would permit me to attend. Never been to a Nationals, hopefully next year. Now I will be attending the next San Diego Comic Con to get my dork on.
Well I will be missing the National Show so I thought I would google the 2012 show and cross my fingers we might see something closer to the west coast. Bad news for me 2012 is back to Baltimore..........blah

The National these past several years has always been right after Comic Con, so I've always been unable to attend, but I hear it's frickin' awesome. Would love to see what 100,000+ people over a weekend for a show looks like, but it'll have to wait for now.

Is this a fun event to attend even if I don't have deep pockets or a huge want-to-buy list? Is it an event people attend just for kicks?

We r gonna try and make a sox game as well. I guess it's about an hour away from the show.
It gives me another excuse to stop off at Three Floyd's Brewing Company in Munster, IL and pick up some Gumballhead Ale.
Where's the party? I hear you slab junkies really like to tear it up!
