Great show. Wide selection of quality cards, raw and slabbed; always fun to talk to fellow collectors. Copped these three for $3800. White specks are my scanner.
Thx. Shade under VCP avg and the '56 is strong for its grade. I wish they had a show like that every month. No substitute for seeing all those cards in person.
The Mile High '52 Mantle SGC 7.5 was there, and looks amazing. Alas it's a few clicks north of my budget.
I was there today and got a bunch of raw 70's basketball for signing. Small show but the vintage and graded selection was top notch! Actually only one table selling boxes of cards and 2 tables selling new shiny stuff. Phenomenal.
I was there yesterday and even though I didn't buy anything I did enjoy the show. The Miles High display case had two 1952 Mantle rookie cards and the one SGC 7.5 was just amazing. Nice pickup on the 56 Mantle that caught my eye as a really nice card.
Yeah, that Mile High SGC #311 in 7.5 was so impressive; tremendous value for the grade. It has every bit of the eye appeal of a mint card. Wish I had that kinda loot!
Thx for the kind words re: the Gehrig. I had been looking at 3s, 3.5s, and 4s for a while, and was willing to live with a little tilt and centering issues for a bright, clean image. The others I had seen in that grade all seemed dark/dingy.
Shows rock. You get to see so many cool cards that you forgot you wanted, as opposed to always targeting (the same) specific single cards on ebay. For example, I saw a 64 Rose, a 67 Aaron, the Frank Robinson RC, and a Goudey Ruth...all cards that hadn't been on my want list-- but now are. The flipside of course is now more loot is gonna get dropped. But you can't take it with you. And if my woman can buy a waffle maker at Williams Sonoma for 200 bucks...
