    Wow, those do look legit. The biggest piece looks to be that Maris/Mantle auto, wonder if that is real.

    I would stay away from the autos (most look questionable). But the cards definitely appear legit!

    The Mantle & Maris pic is the only one I think that doesn't look good. The auctioneer knows it doesn't look good, but he is justifying it by saying they signed it while holding it against a brick wall, and that is why the signature is shaky. Not sure if I am buying that. The cards look sweet though! Unfortunately, this was my one weekend a month that I had to work, so I absolutely hate that I missed going to this in person. I am justifying it by saying that everything probably went higher than it should have anyway (which is usually true for local auctions).....

    I left some absentee bids as well but everything went way too high. Some of the cards are clearly trimmed (most of the 54s, the 53 Bowman, etc...) so I'm somewhat wary about the rest of the stuff:

    That is kinda what I figured. Sometimes people at those live local auctions bid things up CRAZY!! To a price several times higher than what you can get the same item for on Ebay! Maybe I should consign with them?

    I have asked many times to add some of my stuff to these estate auctions, especially as I see 1977 commons with creases go for $2 each (No joke, it happened). Unfortunately, they wouldnt allow it as it takes away from the estates suckers, er, customers

    I have been to many live card auctions in the last couple of years and nothing surprises me. Typically, trimmed, altered and beat up raw vintage will bring more than actually graded cards. I guess its the thrill of not knowing the true grades or just seeing some harder to find cards that make people do stupid things.

    I have seen people bid up a trimmed, beat up, no better than a PSA Authentic 56 Mantle to over $500 dollars before and then turn right around and let a PSA 5 1962 Mantle sell for $200 in the same auction.
