Idea for precious metal testing device

I just had a serious idea for what may be an effective tester of gold and/or silver items. I have no mechanical ability to build a model to get a patent on it.

Can anybody recommend a relatively reliable patent development firm that can develop an idea and not steal more than half the money?

I am quite serious.

    RELIABLE PATENT DEVELOPMENT FIRM is an oxy moron.

    All they want are the fees and if you ask them for references and their track record....the silence is loud and clear.

    The guys who get patents have a little bit of engineer in them and hire an attorney to do a search or they have learned to do the search themselves. Remember, all it takes is ----I think -------23% of a difference from your idea to the next idea to make infringement on your idea moot. It may be less, it may be 17%.

    I have second hand experience in two friends the last twenty years going to PATENT DEVELOPMENT FIRMS with ideas and told it wasn't worth pursuing and those products came on the market from another source.
    I have first hand knowledge with one incident.

    I think a good patent attorney could hook you up with a prototype engineer and a manufacturer. The less you talk about your idea in public, the better off you'll be.

    You might want to check in with DCarr. He is pretty good at mechanical/electrical.
