Differentiating between 1933 and 1934 junk dollars?

Is there an easy way to tell the difference between the dates on these? I know absolutely nothing about Chinese coinage, so any help here would be appreciated.

  • Really easy...

    1932... has 1 line 9 o'clock
    1932... has 2
    1934... has 3

    I hope that helps.

This is from a Japanese coin website, but if you scroll down the numbers are shown. I don't know about Chinese coins, but for Japanese coins the year was read right to left until 1948, at which point it switched to left to right. I'm guessing there is a similar Chinese coin site somewhere....

You can also get your Krause catalog, and spend several minutes with the very front page of China coins. It will give you the chinese characters for numbers, and with a little bit of work you can decipher the years.
