    Thanks guys.

I thought I'd won one on ebay but the sellers pictures aren't clear. I've since enlarged the area on the picture and believe it not to be the rare variety. I'm still waiting to see the coin in hand though.

  • That's really splitting hairs there. Kinda like that type two 67 1/2d.:confused. Or was it a '57??

  • Sorry about the earlier false start... The standard reference for GB silver varieties is Davies book published in 1982. For what it's worth, he shows this coin (#1752 in his listing) as obverse 2 - reverse E, and estimates its value in mint state @ 120 GBP versus 28 GBP for the standard 1923 type (3E). While the absolute value is clearly out-of-date, it may give you some idea of it's relative value.

Wow, as much as I love Brit silver and copper of the 19th & 20th C., I just can not get excited by such a minute difference. Well, God bless those that do...

I don't own a Davies but have ordered some from Rob. Will probably sell some on my site.

I'm the same as you 7Jaguars but was hoping its a nice cherrypick to trade or sell on.

I'm just home. It had a blue stain dipped it in acetone which removed it (must have been PVC residue).

    Any opinions of variety?

  • Looks like the common obverse to me. JMO
