PSA/DNA Quick Opinion question

I have a basketball autographed by Michael Jordan which I won in a raffle about 20 years ago. Can I use the Quick Opinion Service from PSA if I take picture and email it to them?

I think it only works if it's listed on Ebay, I don't believe you can email them the pics direct.

If you do go the Ebay route, keep in mind that if it comes back Likely Not Genuine, it will count against your sellers status and you will get a black mark even if you pull it right down. I put up an autograph about a year ago just to get a quick opinion and it came back not genuine. I took it right down (I had listed it not for sale) and canceled the auction. In my sellers dash board I found I had a strike against me because of it.

Correct, it has to be an active auction on eBay

    Is the basketball a Wilson?

They are no longer cancelling auctions that come back likely not genuine. I did one on monday that was LNG and its still up.

It is a Spaulding indoor/outdoor basketball. I won it in a raffle at a local card shop, I think around 1992 or 3.

So to use this service, I need to run an auction and then cancel it if I did not want to sell?

  • They'll do it for other auction sites besides ebay, but the fee is $10 instead of $7.49.

Basically yeah, you have to list it yourself, send in a quick opinion request, and wait for their response.

Put a really high BIN on the ball ... high enough so that NOBODY would ever think of paying that much for the ball ... get your opinion from PSA/DNA ... then cancel the auction.

    +1

And if you have separate buying and selling accounts, list it with the BUYING account, so if it comes back LNG, the seller dashboard of the ID you never use to sell will take the hit.

There are several people here that can probably give you a fairly accurate guesstimate as well if you'd post a pic.
