yep, that'll bring a little change. Too bad he didn't pull it a couple months ago & catch the train while he was starting.
  • That's a great looking card! What product is that from?

Nice pull but it bums me out that even 1/1 rarities have sticker autos.

It is from the 2010 Panini & Patches.....thanks for the comments so far guys. My friend has really been on a role lately. He busted a box of 2003 bowman chrome baseball the other day and pulled a Hanley Ramirez auto refractor that will soon be on its way to PSA. It sure looked like a 10 to me.

I always suggest to people that if they have a card with a sticker auto, sell it at peak. One day, the glue from those stickers will dry out and either break down the ink or just peel off.

On card autos are the ONLY way to go.

Pretty much same thing for UD Sweet Spot signed leathers. I dont know if they used cheap leather or what but as you can see many on ebay, they are fading, some badly. Keep those out of sunlight and sell those as quickly as possible as well.

I know some of the better people to consign vintage cards with on ebay, but who are the best ones to consign modern cards such as this one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  • Put it up yourself imo. This will bring probably over 5 grand... No reason to give 20-30% to someone when you can make a nice description and beef it up yourself.

    Less is more!
  • Consign it to Beckett Select Auctions, it's modern and it'll get more advert there. It's a nice card and def a centerpiece to a Tebow collection.
  • Five grand? Seriously?

5 grand definetely seems like a possibility to me as well. The Sam Bradford 1/1 bowman chrome superfractor sold for around 10k and I don't remember exactly what the Strasburg 1/1 superfractor brought but I know it was ridiculous. I even thought about contacting Brent(Pre-War Collector on Ebay) to see if he might be interested in selling this card on Ebay. I know that he deals in vintage, but he has a great reputation and following on Ebay. Does anyone know how I can contact Brent?
  • Maybe I'm crazy, but $5k seems really high. Here's a 1/5 from the same issue that went for $300:

The Tebow #3/5 that you showed is cool, but it is not even in the same ballpark as this card. This card has the NFL Logo Shield, Auto, and is #1/1 making it far more valuable than that particular one. It is like comparing apples and oranges. I honestly have no idea what the card will sell for, someone just threw the 5k number out there and I wouldn't be surpised based on prior 1/1s such as the Strasburg and Bradford cards if it does fetch something in that range. Tebow has an unbelievable following and these 1/1 logo auto rookie cards can really bring big $$$$.
  • Hopefully you are accepting Best Offers on the item, which I believe is your point for the high BIN. It's a very nice item, and should be valued a lot more than the link item posted above. I would like to estimate you could easily get $600(from me) for it with a ceiling of about $2000 in a bidding war with a couple die-hard fans. Now if you were to get a couple die-hards with deep pockets..... If this were an SP Authentic or Exquisite card, I'd price point it at 3K.

I used to subscribe to these so called rare cards, but created rarity in my humble opinion is not rare. I've got plenty of low numbered Nolan Ryans that will tell you once the hype wears off you won't get a fraction of what was paid for a card while the player was in the headlines.

  • Football never brings close to Baseball cards... I think the high end is $2k on this card, but most likely will only bring around $1k..

    Sam Bradford > Tim Tebow

That's really all that matters. And, this manufactured rarities are so damn stupid.

    your best bet

    can't stand that player personally...

  • << <i>And, this manufactured rarities are so damn stupid. >>

It's the stupid prices that are being paid for the cards. I'd be all for the card as a one of a kind item but it's more than likely a "event worn" logo and it's a sticker.
  • scashaggyscashaggy Posts: 1,110 ✭✭✭
    Congrats on the pull.

    I think 5K is high.

This 1/1 Tebow sold for $585.

    Tebow 1/1

I think somewhere in that price range is a little more like it.
  • Not trying to be a downer but no way this card comes close to $5k. It isn't even a game worn shield. Pretty sure Tebow has multiple 1/1 event shield cards across the brands.
  • you will be lucky to get $700 for it.

I agree about the price,it's a nice looking patch/auto,always exciting to pull the 1/1.I have seen what seems
to be a few of the 1/1's with the NFL logo patch, folks love there logo patches, but my guess would be $7-900.

as goraiders said, the other patches aren't the same as a NHL logo patch, people go nuts for those, regardless of the player...

<< <i>it's more than likely a "event worn" logo >>

It is an event worn logo. It's from the NFL Rookie Premiere event (as noted on the back of the card) and it is my understanding that players put on many jerseys that day in order to give us hobbyists plenty of opportunities to overpay on a piece of fabric attached to a piece of cardboard.
  • Only way to find out is to wait for offers on eBay. Set it so it auto declines anything less than $600(what I would pay). You'll get a better price during the preseason. He will start for the Broncos next year barring injury and a lockout.

This card will be going on ebay soon....I don't think there is any chance that it brings less than 1k. This is just my opinion. I do not really collect much modern stuff and i certainly am not a Tebow fan(Boomer Sooner Baby), but I also can't deny how popular he is with collectors. The Sam Bradford superfractor bringing 10k about a month ago proves that football can bring as much as baseball. All it takes for a card like this to reach a crazy price is a 2 people that want it getting in a bidding war. I totally agree that the prices for some of these modern 1/1 cards gets completely out of hand, but collectors have the right to collect and pay whatever they wish and there are lots of people that collect 1/1s and LOGO Patch cards. The bidding on ebay will definetely be interesting.....

Why not just put in on eBay with a very high BIN since they are doing the free listing until the 28th. Can't hurt to see if you get any one to bite. If nothing else you can relist auction style and carry over your watchers.

I think this card was pulled by MrVintage given how sure he is what the final sell price will be. Again, comparing Bradford to Tebow in terms of popularity among collectors is silly. My guess is Tebow is popular/well-liked in Utah and Florida, while Bradford has a national appeal.
  • itzagoneritzagoner Posts: 8,753 ✭✭
if it's the "only" example and the guy hasn't even really done anything yet and he blows doors this coming season, it could well be worth big money, so why not wait? maybe i'm not so well educated on this modern stuff, but strike when the iron is hot? even if Tebow blows chunks this coming season, it's STILL worthy of attention.

Why would he be liked in Utah any more/less than in any other state?

CNOTE I haven't opened a pack of modern cards in many many years(hence the name MRVINTAGE) so I did not pull the card. My buddy pulled it and sent me the scans to post on here to show it off. I don't know how much it will sell for but 1/1s are always fun and interesting to watch. Tebow was one of the most popular college football players of all-time and that popularity seems to have carried over to the NFL. Tim Tebow had the top selling jersey of any player in the NFL so I don't think that I was overstating his national popularity either. If you simply aren't a fan of Tebow I have no problem with that because I'm not a fan of his either. I live in Oklahoma City and I am a huge Sooner and Bradford fan. No doubt Bradford has been better thus far, but I would say that Tebow has hype on his side and normally that is what drives a card such as this one....hype not performance(Strasburg)

Your best time to sell is definitely NFL preseason or right before the first game of the year. Right now, football isn't going to sell as nicely. Like others said, maybe put it up at a ridiculous high buy it now price right to get some advertising and see what happens. But I certainly wouldn't put it up as an auction until later this year.

I would estimate 1k. You are likely to get a couple of buyers right now. The risk of not selling is minimal as I dont see a bottom on this card much under $300 for a few years, but the ceiling on this card is in the 5k range if he were to start and do well next year.

Personally, I dont think Tebow is an NFL QB in the long run. He is a Hines Ward, Randel El, etc type player, but thats just an opinion. He could end up with 50k passing yards in his career, who knows
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

Think they just named Orton the starter, so you may want to hold off for a bit..
