So this Swedish beauty meets a Frenchman...

...and by golly they lived happily ever after!image
How could a Frenchman not fall in love with the aura of Ore
and besides, she's so young!image

Couldn't resist sharing a couple of coins I came across.

I've had some of those Swedish pieces from that era (well, I've had the Nappy 3 50c's too), but not that nice. What was the bullion weight of those Swedish ones? I forget. Wasn't it something weird like .630 or something?

  • She IS a bit young, isn't she? That's a nice one though.

I'm not familiar with the Ore, is that a mini portrait under the "25 ore"?

It appears to be although I don't know the history behind it. Looks like a queen...

Good eye! I never noticed that before!

Maybe some kind of privy/mintmasters mark?

Does look like a tiny little queen's head.

A tiny beheaded queen's head. She has no neck! image

(What's Mary Queen of Scots or Marie Antoinette doin' on a Swedish coin, anyway?) image

I noticed that right off and think it would have to be Queen Christina, a Swedish queen who gave up her throne and took the vows and entered a nunnery in Rome in the 17th century. A story only marginally less fascinating than the formers, because it was without some of the murderous intrigues.

Gotta go to the history book now: sounds fascinating. Thanks!image

olmanjon, I tried to find out but couldn't find a picture of the two together.

I'm assuming it's the large cross variety. If small variety
I'm looking forward to $400 plus when it sells, otherwise I'm thinking
the large could hit $75 to $100

Lunch? I will call you shortly.
