just found this message board and so far I love it! I have a pretty decent autograph collection but want to get more into collecting cards(mostly baseball but other sports too). Just wanted to get some feedback on good ways to start, what to look for, or other thing that might be helpful.

Just like you & have more auto's than cards but would like to get more into the cards area.

You will like this page alot. I never new so much went into grading & what to look for in buying/trading cards.

Spencermc, welcome to the boards. As for card collecting, a good way to start is with what you like. If graded cards, a basic player registry set is the best way to start. They are typically more affordable. Another good one is a rookie card autograph set.

I think a good way to start is to pick up a few things that interest you: cards of your favorite team or favorite player, cards you collected as a kid, etc. Chances are good that you'll change direction once you learn more about what is available, so start slow. Prices depend largely on grades, so get familiar with the grading standards, and learn how to grade cards yourself.

i have a bunch of baseball cards from late 80's and into the 90's and 2000's. haven't looked at them in a while, going to try to in the next few days.
