Good Trade or Bad?

I recently picked up these seven 1961 Topps All Stars for a 1982 Topps Traded Ripken PSA 9. Good trade or bad? The reason I parted with the Ripken is because I am considering submitting the 1961s that I have to PSA and start a set on the registry.

Ooops, I typed All Star when they are really the MVP Cards from the set.

Good trade, You can easily pick up another Ripken.
  • I'd have to say Very Good trade. As the Ripken Pupulation goes up, the price will come down.

    Good for you.

    Steve,

Yeah, I almost didn't make the trade because of the Banks. The scan of the Berra looks worse than the card. The Berra actually looks cleaner. I think in the long run I will be the one who got the better end of the deal. I do wonder what they would grade it I decide to submit them.

The Maris is very very nice, Mays, Mantle, Berra and Aaron aren't bad for centering. The bright colors on the MVP cards really makes flaws stand out, so it all comes down to personal preference. I think you made a fine trade. I love the 61 set.

I only mentioned the Banks because mine is just like it.

The Berra is also like mine in that the red color is faded.

I have seen dot free Bank's and nice red Berra's so they are out there.

Overall I think you did good.

    Good for you.

WinPitcher, thanks for your thoughts. I eventually will have to decide if I am going to submit them for grading, and ultimately decide if I am going to make an attempt at putting the set together. My primary focus right now is completing my 1991 Topps Desert Shield set in PSA 9 or better. One project at a time.

    Dialj,

Nice trade in my opinion...have always liked the MVP set. Why not get them graded and just do the MVP subset. No need to do the whole year.

I think you did very well with the trade!
  • Hmmm. I've got a 1982 Topps Traded Ripken in a PSA 9 holder. Wanna trade for the cards you have pictured above??

    Nice trade!

    MikeB,

Thanks for the offer LOL. Someday I will probably brake down and buy the Ripken in PSA 10, but for now I am content and not in a hurry.
