Epson V300 Question (Scanning Modern Cards)

Can anyone tell me if there is a better way to scan Refractor type cards... my old scanner actually scanned them better.

Try toggling the switch from image to document?

My local office supplies place has Epson artisan 810's on sale for $99 (from $299), I would primarily be scanning refractor cards and many BGS cases, seems like a bad combo for a Epson... I hope you are able to figure things out so they scan better but my last scanner had no actual ocular adjustments, which is what it looks like yours needs.

I've tried changing modes with no luck... hopefully someone has figured something out already image

I have the V300, and don't really mind the way the refractors are scanned. It's the LEDs in the scanner, btw, so I don't think anything can be done.

Next time you get a new printer, get an all in one (if you don't already have one)

Just use that one for refractors as you'll never get a good scan with the LED type

That's what I thought... it looks like I'll be doing refracter scanning with the old HP Scanjet all in one image

Normally I don't mind the refracter look but all my cards have auto's on them and they become hard to see when scanned with the V300

Refractors? Stick with vintage and the problem is solved... BTW, the Epson V300 is great with SGC and BGS slabs, too. In fact, because it doesn't focus on the scanner bed, you get more focus and depth on thicker slabs and cards with swatches, etc... The drawback is that reflective cards don't turn out so well (refractors, SP foils, etc).
