How much time do you spend per week or month on your collection including reading, going to shows and dealers, examining, message boards, and so forth?

    Too much browsing the auction sites & here while at work. I'm looking at 1/2 h to 1h a day doing that alone. Then in the weekday evenings, say an hour every other or third day with a magazine, catalog, or actual real-live coins. On the weekend it can get worse... I'm working through about 20 recent auction catalogs which has eaten up most of my Sunday morning so far.

    So to sum up: call it 10h/week.

    Since Im on disability and dont have much to do but sit here hooked up to an IV, about 3-4 hours a day!
    All coins kept in bank vaults.

    About two or three hours a day right now. Just getting back into it and in "buying mode" and cataloging all of my stuff, so I expect this to slow down to about an hour a day when things settle down. If I could get a concise, sorted, organized list of all new items up for auction at the big sites every few days I could save myself loads of time.
    Sell me a coin or three!

    I am focusing 5-6 hours a day on research, forums, ebay, etc, etc... per day. I find the act of learning about the hobby relaxes me beyond anything that I could get over the counter! -Dan

    A lot, but still not enough - I am more of a hunter/gatherer than a fix it up an' make it look purty type of a collector.

    Life is short, so I hate the eternity in checkout and gas station lines, or in traffic. The ten or twenty hours with numismatics has never been a problem, because it goes quickly each week..

    I'm either talking to friends about Barbers - [ Half Hr per day ]
    looking at new catalogs for Barbers - [ Half Hr per day ]
    looking up old catalogs about Barbers - [ Hour or so a month ]
    posting to the Barber Mega Thread - [ Half Hour a day ]
    answering PM's about Barbers - [ Hour per week ]
    checking out coin web sites for Barbers - [ Two hours per week ]
    sending my Barbers out for imaging - [ couple of hours per month ]
    checking eBay for Barbers - [ 20 minutes per day]

    getting family members interested in Barbers - [ I've gotten one 12 yr old boy cousin interested ]
    .....and I send him images a few times a week of coins I either have - or want to buy ... he's like
    a sponge - always absorbing everything I teach him. He's gotten a few nice Barber Dimes
    courtesy of his "Uncle Mike". He's become a good grader as well... says this coin or that is
    solid for the grade - and then explains why he said it.

    probably about 30 minutes a day. usually just to bump through ebay or search through auction archives, don't have the moneyright now to spend on coins i see listed on dealers sites. most of my free time for hobbies is spent researching the sites i like to metal detect, this requires a lot of dedication and can be very frustrating

    When i put together both my proof franklin set and uncirculated set (graded coins of course), i devoted some time every day in order to find what i wanted. It could of been as little as a few minutes to hours per day. My album sets that im putting together i spend WAY less time on. Id say 1 day per week and thats as far as i go.

    Way too much... if you ask my wife. Likely an average of 2-3 hr a day.

    Overall, it seems to be about 2 to 3 hours per day among respondents. Very interesting. I wonder what those who do not participate in message boards spend?

    on average 1 hr before work and 2 to 3 hrs after work. so thats 4 hrs of just here. weekends i put in alot more hrs. but i still look on ebay and some coin dealers locally.
