NERDS!

You're all a bunch of card geeks, and you're all tremendous.
This is my first post, and I have to tell you that I have really enjoyed reading this board over the last few weeks. As an avid card geek, I have no one that understands the passion behind the hobby.....especially my wife, who just stares blankly at me when I tell her how sweet my recent pack rip was. There's hope for her though, as she recently handed me a box from BBCE for an anniversary gift this year full of unopened wax. I fell in love with her all over again.
If someone were to ask me "what do you look for in a message board?" I guess I'd have to say "A place that a dude can hold an hour of my attention as I scroll through picture after picture of Gary Carter baseball cards." How awesome.
I really look forward to contributing here.

<< <i>Welcome... I thought the same thing when I joined a few years back... but I consider myself more a card Dork than a geek or nerd! >>
There's a fine line between dork, geek or nerd. Often times, I more resemble a spaz.
What do you collect aside from ripping packs?

All of my stuff is loose, or "raw" as I think you guys call it. I rarely get anything graded, but I probably should.
I'm building sets from 1970 thru the mid 80's with a few later sets mixed in. I mostly get my stuff unopened from BBCE, as I've found it to be the most reliable for "older" stuff. Obviously building sets from pack ripping from the 70's and 80's is a horribly expensive way to do it, but it's really important that my stuff be as near mint as I can tell and I rarely trust anything I can buy on ebay anymore, so packs are the route I've taken for now.
I've also got a huge collection of rookies that eventually I'll look to grade, but as of now, I just enjoy seeing the collection grow.
If you get a chance, post some pics of your favorite items in your collection. We all love to see each other's stuff!
Enjoy the ride!
This Board is a GREAT place to learn a LOT from other NERDS.
Stay active and I am sure you will have a LOT of fun.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
