Counterfiet and Copyright Violations !!!

Morning,
I mentioned this a while back when this guy was only doing Boxes:

See Auction #370464809005 and look at some of his other items.

Now he is doing the Actual cards themselves, Wrappers, Ect. In my opinion this is just wrong and I would be 100 % positive that those have been bought and then flipped to some neophyte as Real. Some of the Non Sports stuff he is doing/done are items worth Hundreds and Thousands if they were real. He doesnt even list them as Reprints in the Auction listing stuff, isn't that a Listing Violation?

Neil
Actually Collect Non Sport, but am just so full of myself I post all over the place !!!!!!!

Dont know what this violates but you gotta admit, who ever is doing that work looks like they are doing a great job...all most too great of a job!

I'm sure he could get in trouble (says the guy who makes custom cards), he's also in violation of ebay policy because he has the "Click Here" banner that takes you to his etsy store.

Its scary how good that work looks. Although he the seller doesnt come out and day these cards are reprints, he makes it pretty clear that your not buying originals. As for the O/P question.... I have no clue how he is reprinting the cards without a liscense from Topps. I would think they would be all over something that's been recreated so well.

There's a guy making hockey pack replicas and I've considered buying some for display purposes (link to eBay auction below).

The idea that replicas can fool the novice collector is nonsense

and the production of replicas will never be brought to a halt,

so if you own any, the only responsible thing to do is mention to your buyer what exactly it is they are buying.

    Neil,

I do agree with you that it is not ethical and the seller could get in trouble with Topps. A real Gilligan box would be worth TENS of THOUSANDS! However, that damn guy does an UNREAL job and they WOULD look real nice in a display case!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

    Morning,

I think that that "Crap" (Albeight, it's good looking Crap!) should be stamped as Re-Print or Copy....Period!!!! I just don't see good coming from it, and if the Fakes are that good, as they look in his pictures, who's to say anybody couln't get taken!!
I think Topps should put a stop to it!!!

I just looked at the guy's etsy page and have to agree with you. I was shocked not to see anything stamped on the boxes/packs/cards.

Neil and Patrick ... I agree 100% they should be stamped "REPRINT". They could be stamped on the bottom so someone could still display it nicely.

I think the question is not is this legal or not, but how long will it be before replicas that are so difficult to differentiate themselves from the real ones appear in the sportscard market? The stamp industry has already gone through this and in many respects, has devalued a lot of the so-called, lower dollar collector stamps, at least from what I hear.

I think its conceivable that within a few years, the printing technology will be able to reproduce, with almost undetectable quality, sets of vintage cards.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
