Medal/Thaler Help?

Was reviewing the collection of a friend and came across this piece. Im a US coin guy, but I assume this is either a thaler or a medal. Date is 1501. Looking for any info on country, values, etc. Thanks.

Supposed to be Solothurn, Switzerland Guldiner or 1/2 Guldiner.
