There are a lot of Chinese, and many becoming middle class. I think over the next few years Chinese material will continue to move up. But that's just my guess.
  • The dollar coins of China have seen increased prices especially over the past five years. eBay sales of nice examples have lessened. Prices in the USA are still usually less than in China but the gap is closing.

A 1920 $1 Y-329.6 PCGS MS64 sold recently for $1,125 on eBay. A similar coin sold on eBay for $400 in 2007. Such results are typical presently.

The dollar coins of the provinces are very difficult to find for sale.

Some dates of the smaller denominations of the provinces are extremely difficult to locate in problem-free condition and likely were not saved anywhere near the number of dollar coins saved.

While the popularity of Chinese coin certification is relatively low compared to the USA, a study of the PCGS and NGC population reports provides an indication of the relative scarcity of the coins.

The difference in prices realized between certified and non-certified coins has grown significantly.

The falling USA dollar has made the price appreciation seem larger than it is when compared to the price appreciation using China's currency.

A very large majority of the older coins have been cleaned.
