A 1920 $1 Y-329.6 PCGS MS64 sold recently for $1,125 on eBay. A similar coin sold on eBay for $400 in 2007. Such results are typical presently.
The dollar coins of the provinces are very difficult to find for sale.
Some dates of the smaller denominations of the provinces are extremely difficult to locate in problem-free condition and likely were not saved anywhere near the number of dollar coins saved.
While the popularity of Chinese coin certification is relatively low compared to the USA, a study of the PCGS and NGC population reports provides an indication of the relative scarcity of the coins.
The difference in prices realized between certified and non-certified coins has grown significantly.
The falling USA dollar has made the price appreciation seem larger than it is when compared to the price appreciation using China's currency.
A very large majority of the older coins have been cleaned.
