Does anyone have knowledge of this card?

Hello! I have a circa 1934 tobacco card of screen legend Joan Crawford. Picked it up for a song. Spent 99 cents on it.

I would like to know more about it. Despite its shortcomings I would like to submit it for grading someday.

The card is from the set called Champions of Screen & Stage. There were 48 cards in the series with Ms. Crawford at number 7 in the set.

I would appreciate it. The scan shows a black line on her above the bustline. The card doesn't have that. Some foreign debris on the scanner.

  • Hi, This is a British issue from 1934. There are 48 cards in the set. The red back cards book at about a buck each for nice ones.

Hope you enjoy your card. Rick

Probably wouldn't be a great idea to get it graded. If you like the card enough and you want a graded one pay the few extra bucks and get a real nice one. Grading fees are expensive and unless the card will grade high I say don't do it.
Remember with freight and fees you can easily pay $10+ to grade the one you have which will grade very low.
Here is an auction with a nice graded one: Link

You can find sets of these in NM condition if you look.

I think I paid around 40.00 for mine.

    Good for you.
  • There are a lot of beautiful and inexpensive British issues covering loads of subjects. A lot of the vintage sets are available in very high grade, although most are ungraded.
