What will this grade? VCP help? 1955 Topps Johnny Podres

Just curious as to what you guys think this card will grade. It is headed to Newport Beach tomorrow. I also wanted to show it off!

Also, what it the VCP on this card in PSA (whatever you think it will grade?)

My guess from the scan will be PSA 7

    PSA 7 - around $75.

    Nice card.

Anybody have VCP on a PSA 8? With it in hand and under magnification, I say it has an 80% shot at a PSA 8. We shall see.

According to VCP last PSA 8 sold was memory lane back in 08 and it sold for $1621.50. Nothing above an PSA 8 on VCP. Truly a hard card to get very good centering. I paid double of SMR for a nice centered card in PSA 6. You do have a nice card there. Hope you get an PSA 8 on your card.

Looks like you had a great weekend of pickups. Nice stuff between this and the Dan Dee's.

Are the boarders on these cards really that white Shane?

Nice card, I think it will 7 and it could also possibly 8.

I don't see it as a 7.5 (if that makes sense)

    Thanks for sharing.

The 1955 Podres - yes. If you mean cardS as in plural and as in the Dan Dees - those may appear just a shade whiter in the scans. It wasn't done intentionally. In my hands, the Dan Dees are a little "creamier" than the 55 Podres.

I watched a documentary the other night on his game 7 world series win in 1955. I like cards that share a special moment that actually happened during the season of year they were released. Cool card!

Might take a few submissions but that card is an "8" some day.

    Thanks for the opinions, guys.

Again, I personally think that this card is a PSA 8 - 8 out of 10 times. Now, having said that, I don't have any experience with this particular card. I know that PSA is supposed to grade the card on it's own merits, but do any of you have any experience with PSA being tough with this particular card?

Nice pickup, Shane. What are the top left two dots? From the scanner or on card?
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

Those are on the card. Will that keep it from an 8?

    Shane,

I think it is a 7.5 and here is why...

Corners look like an 8 but slight tilt to card, rough right edge, and top to bottom centering is not that great.

    Good Luck!

  • Great card of the hero of the '55 Series. I think it's an 8.

I don't think minor rough cuts count off. Am I right on that?
