My reading comprehension skills may be missing with this story--as I don't see anywhere where they list all the cards that were stolen (and valued at $11,000). I only see a picture that shows "several" of the cards that were recovered--so I can't comment on whether the entire collection was valued at $11,000 or not.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

I think it was the big bold title of the news story, but my sight could be going.

The Sierra card makes me want to bet the collection was worth way more than 11,000--you just don't see that card in that condition very often--must be rare. IF he graded it, it would be a low Pop grade for sure.

Not the Cobb. That was the first thing I noticed. Hard to say about the other two. Perhaps the owner is trying some type of insurance scam and was able to get a few unsuspecting cops to fill out the proper forms and then had an equally unknowledgeable report pick up the story.
I hate to be so suspicious, especially if this turns out to in fact be a theft, but the value of the cards pictured is approximately seventy three cents - hard to imagine the rest of his collection totaled 11K.
On July 12, 2010 at approximately 4:00 p.m., Wareham police stopped a vehicle on Sandwich Rd. in Wareham that was being driven by the suspect identified as 29 year old Melissa Sleeper of 7 Rainbow Circle, Buzzards Bay.
lol. Her address. House number and all. Dude needs to rob her back.
The T and E cards look authentic. The Bender is either a E92, E101, E102, or T216. The T206 Cobb has a diamond cut assuring authenticity, and the Heinie Wagner is a common player. Nothing too big on those 3. the Cobb is a $600 card at best, the Bender would be $100 the Wagner about $75. The T201s are authentic too, and the Cobb/Crawford is the best card in set, about a $300 card.

If I was her, I'd fight the charges. No way those 7 cards they found on her are worth over $250.
Case dismissed.
