    What if my buyer does not verify my claim?

    If your buyer does not open a case through eBay Resolutions, ShipCover will send an email notification of a claim submission to the buyer to verify the claim. If the buyer doesn't respond within 15 days of receipt of the claim submission notification email, a reminder email will be sent to the seller requesting the seller work with buyer to verify the claim. If the buyer doesn't complete verification within 30 days of claim submission, the claim will be denied and closed.


    Will filing a claim with ShipCover be taken into consideration in evaluating my performance as a seller?

    Filing an insurance claim with ShipCover is not a factor in evaluating your performance as a seller. However, if your buyer opens a case through the eBay Resolutions or PayPal Buyer Protection the case will be considered along with DSRs in evaluating seller performance.

    Note: ShipCover is provided through eBay Insurance Services (eBay Insurance Brokerage Services in New York) and Parcel Insurance Plan (PIP) and is underwritten by The American Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Fireman's Fund Insurance Company.

    Sounds a lot like self insurance to me. A seller paying money for the same type policy isn't allowed to recoup the cost by charging buyers a la carte for insurance. If they require scamming buyers to cooperate with the claim process that's just hysterical.

    If they had a brain (and actually wanted sellers to use this service) they'd count a paypal/ebay INR claim as buyer verification. That's what I used with the post office many moons ago.

    How does ShipCover verify my claim with the buyer?

    Once you file a claim, the buyer needs to verify that the item is either damaged or was lost during shipping. There are two ways the buyer can verify your claim. If your buyer files a case with eBay Resolutions or with PayPal Buyer Protection for an item lost or damaged during shipping, ShipCover will consider the case as buyer verification. If the buyer doesn't go through eBay Resolutions or PayPal Buyer Protection, ShipCover will send an email to the buyer with details on how to complete the verification process.

    BUT, after September, ANY INR-claim will be counted as
    a "strike" against the seller.

    AND, a SNAD-claim filed for "damage" - or any other reason -
    will also be counted as a "strike."

    Ebay again breaks its own rules. If I remember correctly, you could not use "third party" insurance anymore and charge for it (then no charging at all), but if ebay is the third party, they dont see a problem with it.

    The problem with this insurance is that it requires the cooperation with the buyer. A moron buyer or an extrotionist now has another weapon. I can hear it now "Yeah, Ill file a claim if you gimme back a percentage of the item cost"

    Best way to handle ebays nonsense is this

    STOP SELLING ON EBAY!!!!!!
    IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

    I love the fact that ebay encourages sellers to offer this service for free "to be more competitive". Is there an organization that is less competitive in terms of service than ebay?
