RIP Bob Sheppard

The voice of the Yankees has been silenced today. He was truly as much a part of Yankee stadium as the facade. He will be missed.

Sad news. Had the chance to meet Mr. Sheppard once and he was incredibly cordial in person. PA announcer heaven for certain.

Very sad news. Its amazing to think that the voice that announced Derek Jeter to the field, is the same one that announced Mickey Mantle.

They call him the voice of God. it is cool that after he left I beiieve 2 years ago; Derek jeter asked him if they could play a recording of his voice announcing him to bat. I believe the new announcer does all the other Yankees except Derek Jeter. It is cool to still hear his voice coming out of the stadium.
