How do you tell...

1st time logger, been reading for years. Learned a lot from you guys, thanks. One question that I missed, probably been discussed so sorry for rehashing.. How do you tell the difference in pre and post half grade PSA cards. Can you tell from the flip or is it the number sequence? Thx in advance.

Cards that could have received a half grade have the numeric grade under the alpha grade:

Pre-Half grade graded cards have the alpha and numeric grades on the same line:

It has nothing to do with the cert #'s as seen here. The "older" graded card has a cert # well above the "newer" graded card.

Served it's purpose. Bet you were looking for something controversial. image
  • So its the placement of the physical grade number? Cards that were graded before half points were given are on the same line, cards graded after half points were allowed are under the alpha grade? I had read somewhere that the cert number makes some reference to the actual grader. True?

    Thx

PSA says no. So it must be true.
