PSA/DNA quick opinion not likely genuine

Hello everyone,I purchased this Ted Williams autographed baseball the other day on Ebay,I came across the auction
when there wasn't enough time to get a PSA/DNA opinion on the ball before it ended....turns out I made a mistake on gambling whether it's
authentic or not. I thought I'd pay to get a quick opinion on it before the seller could send it out to me. Came back not likely genuine.

My fault for taking a chance on an unauthenticated auto...but just basically wanna get some opinions on what you all think of the auto.
btw I did write the seller and told him of the results..he states in his auction he will give a 100 percent refund if proven not authentic.

I am NOT an expert on ANY autograph. If you didn't tell me the results of the Quick Opinion I probably would just be guessing if it was good or bad. Just based on the fact that you told me the QO was no good, I would say that the letters in the last name are spaced out quite a bit more than the other Williams autos that I have seen. JMO, which could be totally wrong! LOL

I tend to agree with you on the spacing of the letters on the last name, seems now that I've looked a few authentic ones over he has more
of a slant in his name then this one shows.

and you can see someone laboring in writing the last name
Successful dealings with Wcsportscards94558, EagleEyeKid, SamsGirl214, Volver, DwayneDrain, Oaksey25, Griffins, Cardfan07, Etc.

I have an authentic wall hanging I paid big money for, and the Sig on that ball looks nothing like the one on my picture.....

The "Ted W" looks sort of OK,........... but the "illiams" looks slow traced like a kid did it copying an original.

I would say NO on it too.

I would have said no way without the QO. The T looks off as does the A and the slant is not there.

Now, I may be wrong on this, but I thought that if PSA QO finds it not likely genuine that they would contact Ebay and the auction would be pulled, even if it ended already. I have put items up just for the QO and if they came back not likely genuine, Ebay removed it. Wouldn't Paypal then refund you the money if the auction was removed and you filed for your money back?

Thanks guys for the opinions, the seller has already refunded me the total amount. I'm not sure what she will be doing with the ball at this
point..hope she doesn't try to relist it.

I had this happen to me several years ago when I sold a helmet that someone did a quick PSA/DNA opinion on and it was the same result as yours and ebay pulled my auction and warned me to never list it again or I would be suspended. So you won't have to worry about her relisting it. I actually submitted the helmet to PSA a couple years later and it passed the test and was authenticated. My scan on my original auction was not very good so that was probably the reason why PSA rejected it.
  • Glad you got your money back, The signature looks hesitant to me. Williams has a hard bold signature. Not in color but in the way he signs.
  • I've never really examined a Ted Williams signature, but agree with LSI's above comment.

That's not the signature of a physically powerful, manly, superstar player.

It looks sheepishly written, timid, and low-IQ. Perhaps a not-too-bright 15yo boy.

Williams signature DID get more lazy as he entered the last few years of his life. It's speculated that his son John Henry was signing a lot of the Green Diamond stuff then.

As Ted got more sick, he lost his strength, which reflected in his autographs.

It has been speculated that John Henry did sign, but to date no one has had any proof. Many folks have run the Green Diamond items by PSA and JSA with not one denied that I've heard of. I am of the belief that the Green Diamond items are 100% legit, that John Henry was never good enough to forge his Dad's autograph, and that Green Diamond items are a bargain compared to UDA.
