Hi All,
I have some very nice sets for Sale, many with grade Stars and Rookies.
I will be adding more Sets and Items here all with scans and prices. Check back to see whats NEW.
COMING SOON:
1972 Sunoco Stamp Set
First up is a nice 1974 Topps Football Set. Please scroll down to view all Sets and Items
1974 TOPPS FOOTBALL SET
Centering is tough with the goal post design and the set has above average centering for this year.
There are no Creases or Wax Stains. I believe the set to be about 60 - 70% as nice or nicer than the Graded cards shown.
The Cards have nice clean Surface/gloss with NM or better corners.
30 - 40% I feel need upgraded due mainly to centering. The main 9 cards needing upgrading include: Bert Jones,
Ray Guy, Jim Plunkett, George Blanda, Larry Csonka, Willie Brown, Franco Harris, Paul Warfield and OJ Simpson RB
Here are the Graded Cards as Well as some of the others in the set. (The Reggie McKenzie was A PSA 8 Crack Out)

The 74 set is one of the toughest seventies sets for centering with its goal post design and while this still needs the
upgrades mentioned above, With some of the Top stars already graded and those in the scans being very nice,
I think its a great base set to start with.
I have multiple successfull transactions with board members and 1000+ ebay rating under Bigredone1944.
I'll be happy to answer any questions of post scan of ANY card requested.
SET UPDATES:
6/9/10 - I just picked up and added these two sharp cards that were on the Upgrade list above in the set description.
Both are as nice or nicer than the graded cards The Griese 84-86 and the Butkus 86-88(possible 92)
No price change at this time. You can cross these two off the upgrade list above.

6/18/10 - Just added a beautiful PSA 8 Bob Lilly and a Much nicer Merlin Olsen to the set.

7/31/10 - Had four (4) more key cards from the set graded. In light of some of the top grades cards like the Butkus and others
have pulled, breaking the set up is now a possiblity. The graded cards alone would likely set you back darn near the cost
of the entire set.
I will offer it here for a short while longer as a set before deciding to break it up.

1977-78 TOPPS BASKETBALL SET NM to NM-M SOLD SOLD
Some may remember this set I post awhile back.
Had lots of interest but no takers at that time. I since had a few of the cards graded.
The set is very consistant with these grades. I can't see many pulling less than a 84 NM
NO: Creases, Stains, etc.. Sharp clean surfaces and gloss with NM to NM-M corners.
As well as pretty decent centering through out.
I'll be happy to answer any questions of post scan of ANY card requested.

SOLD SOLD SOLD
1985 TOPPS FOOTBALL SET
You know how brutal the black borders are on these cards.
Here's a Super Sharp Set made from Vending and Wax.
Outstanding centering with NO: creases, Wax Stains, etc.. Sharp clean color/gloss surfaces.
90% are consistant with the Graded cards.
10% (Commons) in the NM+ grade
There are (3) Three cards I consider "Fillers"
#172 Kevin House
#284 Chris Bahr (wax on Back)
#303 Glen Blackwood
That Warren Moon Rookie is Super Tough in Mint 9.

Both the Montana and the Passing Ldrs are Blazers. I should have had them graded as well.

The Dorsett is another Killer Card. The Dickerson is one of the weaker cards.

The Set also Includes a Dozen of the 1985 Stickers

I think you'll have to search long and hard to find a nicer 85 Topps Football Set. Graded or Ungraded
I'll be happy to answer any questions or Post Scans of Any card.

no gimmicks and tricks. A simple attractive design with Superior Photography front and Back on nice premium card stock.

There is no doubt the the 89 Set will continue to be the "Mickey Mantle" of all modern day sets.
This 1989 Set is Complete (1-800) with the High Numbers. It is in absoulte beautiful top NM-M / MINT condition.
There are 5 cards that I would want to replace due to corner ding etc...

The set is 8,9,10 Gradable through out. Its a one owner set that I have had since 1990.
I gave $120 for the Graded Griffey Rookie back in the day (Ya, I know, Don't remind me) I thought about sending
it for review and having it crossed to the more attractive SGC holder. I think it can pull a 8.5 - 9 grade (i know everyone says that)

The Set also comes with a small assortment of the Team Holograms

I'll be happy to answer any qusetions about the set or Post more scans of any card.
I would like to at least get close to what I gave for the Griffey for the Set.

Working on the scans of a Super high Grade 1972 Sunoco Stamp Football Set
Also going to be Pulling out a 1983 Topps Baseball Set
Thanks
John
OK Guys
What I have here is one Killer 1972 Sunoco Stamp Set.
Its one of my all-time favorite sets.
It is short 5 Stamps (619-624)
All Commons and all only Avaliable from the 9-stamp packs.(See expanation below)
Ron Carpenter Bengals
Roger Shoals Broncos
Jim Flanigan Saints
Otto Brown Giants
Pete Beathard Cardinals
I know of one set better than this one... Yup you guessed it... mine.
Now this ain't no easy set to make in high grade. While the
9-stamp packs seem to be plentiful and can yeild a few nice stamps. There's absolutely no way you are going to make a set like this simply from those packs.
The majority of the High grade stamps are coming from the Team Sheets and the Stamp Sheets from the Collector Albums.
This Set comes almost completely from Mint Team Sheets and Album Sheets. There are only 144 stamps available from the collector Albums. 6 sheets of 24. Its the same 144 stamps in every album. So while there are some killer stamps in them Mint Albums your not going to make a set or yield any more than 144 stamps from the albums.
That brings us to the Team Sheets that were issued torward the end of the season. These are where the high grade sets are made.
One other note: You CAN NOT yield a Full 624 stamp set just from the Team Sheets. The Team Sheets Featured "New Players" that were traded. Each Team had players that were issued early in the season in the 9-stamp packs, but were traded before the end of the season and thus did not appear in the Late season Team Sheet.
What this means is that certain Traded or Retired players from EVERY Team are ONLY avaliable from the 9-stamp packs.
Example: Bart Starr was issued in the early season 9-stamp packs.
He retired, So was not Issued as part of the late Season Team Sheet. This is true of Every team. The early season Players that were trade were not issued as part of the late season Team Sheets and Thus ONLY avaliable from the 9-stamp packs. And You would think after opening 200 packs you would find those 5 missing stamps.
OK enough of the History Lesson.
The Stamps? Absolutely Mint beauties. There's a handful of ones I would have like to pulled better stamps of, but the overwhelming majority are 8,9 10 NM-M -MINT stamps. The centering
is brutally tough to get and I can't count how many team Sheets and Packs and Albums Ive opened over the years to get this set to this point. I think it is one of the finest sets your going to see avaliable that hasn't already been Graded by PSA or SGC.
A note about Grading. ALL these stamps were carefully folded and removed by ME. ALL still QUALIFY for grading. Cutting or trimming of any kind will disqualify them for grading. None Have been trimmed or cut all were carefully removed by hand by me.
THE DISPLAY:
I made custom Matting and Framing for each stamp using all Acid free materials and custom cut stamp mounts and I must say it was alot of working making 624 custom mattes, but the end results speak for themselves. The Stamp mattes were made to fit in Standard 9-Pocket Ultra Pro Pages.
SOLD SOLD SOLD
Thanks again for the great deal and accurate grading John.
The packaging of the set was bomb proof too. it took me 15 minutes
to get the set out of the multiple layers of packaging materials!
John is a FIVE STAR CU boards seller.
Im glad you were happy with the set.
I do try to be as accurate as possible with grading.
That set was pretty easy to grade. Pretty much all top of the line.
Its the Mixed grade sets that are sometimes tricky to describe.
Im trying to only use this tread for higher grade sets only.
Meaning gradable cards through out with NO: Creases,Wax Stains and nice centering.
I think All that are listed here fall well within the High Grade range. NO junk here.
Thank You again
John
72 Sunoco set SOLD
Guy PMed wanting the 77-78 Basketball Set and 83 Baseball set.
Never heard back from the guy so both those sets are still avaiable.
As well as the:
1974 Topps Football Set
1982 Topps Football Set
1985 Topps Football Set
Still need to work on the scans of the 89 Upperdeck Baseball Set and the 89 Score Football Set.
Take Care
John
Yes those were the days! The wonder bread, slurpy cups, etc... are still out there. I have the 76 Wonder bread FB set and
will also be hunting out the 74 & 75 Set as well.
All those items were cool in the day, but none compare to the Sunoco Stamp Set. It was just so ahead of its time with
complete team sets and full NFL logos. I think it is one of the most overlooked and under rated sets of all time.
That set was nice and although it still need some upgrading on a few of the teams, I think it was just about
as nice as your going to find. I hope the Buyer feels the same way. He may chime back in here once recieves it.
John
Thanks so much for the deal on the Sunoco set. The set was
much better than I was expecting. Your grading was super accurate, the centering overall was nearly perfect, and the packaging was again outstanding just like on the '76 Football set I got from you a couple of weeks ago.
The vast amount of time you spent on making the customized black inserts to mount the stamps, was worth more than the price of the stamps themselves. The attention to detail with the entire set presentation was what sold me on the set. I can only imagine the number of hours you put into making this set so high grade, was a complete labor of love on your part.
This set brings back such great memories for me of collecting these
stamps in the fall of 1972. I plan of keeping this set in my collection for many, many years. It will be the cornerstone to my 1970's Football collection. Also, it's nice to see the NFL team logo's on the stamps too, unlike the air brushed Topps cards from the same era.
For anyone considering buying some of John's other sets on this thread, don't hesitate. The quality is absolutely top notch and his packaging job is stellar. A five star CU boards seller!!
Thank again John!
Rich
Thanks again for the opportunity of purchasing this set from you.
Thank You for the kind words. Im glad you are enjoying the Sunoco Set. Yes I put alot of work into that set.
But it was a labor of love and well worth it now that it is in the hands of someone who really appreciates the set.
I will be listing some 1972 Sunoco Team Lots and sets here as soon as I get them scanned.
Lots of nice NM stamps, but unfortunately for you Rich, all were checked against the ones in your set and you got the best ones.
Still working on getting the scans of that 89 Upperdeck Baseball set done as well. I just love scanning an looking at the cards.
Thank You again!
John

Both are very nice pick ups for the set. No price change as of this time.

Thanks Dave!
4 more cards were submitted for grading. DeLamielleure Rookie, Amad Rashad Rookie, Butkus and OJ Simpson Ldr
The set will be unavailable until those cards return. I will have to reevaluted the pricing as the number of graded cards
grows. I might have to break the set to compensate for all the graded cards. I didn't realize the DeLamiellerure Rookie
commanded some of the prices Ive seen. I'll update more details when the cards return from grading.
Thanks
